Is this the right payscale?

Hi,
I'm an advertising professional in India and have 8 years experience in that field. I've got an job offer in a mid-sized advertising agency in Doha as Account Mgr. (not accounts) and have been offered QR4000 per month, accomodation and 1 month holiday per year with air tickets (to & fro). The offer letter mentions nothing about food, travel expenses (local), mobile phone etc. The GM of the agency said after six months from joining, a car will be provided to me but that's not mentioned in the offer letter. When i told him that the package is too low, he said this is what the account managers with my experience are usually paid in Qatar and i'll have to join the agency and 'prove myself' before i ask for a raise, whatever that means.
Can anybody pls tell if this is what account mgrs are generally paid in ad agencies there? I know this deal isnt the best and considering some answers under this topic, it does'nt even rate as mediocre. But i'm kind of desperate and have not much choice left. If i live modestly (read 'social life= nil), how much can i save? 'Cos I need to send money back home and i'm planning on sending every dirham i can without saving anything there for myself.

Thanks in advance. Have a nice day.

400 for food? this is very low, if you have car you need gas? 200 RQ

telling you he needs to bring money to doha if he takes this job

4k you are still in the no skilled worker class

Minimum should be 10-12k entry with your experience

4000rials is peanuts for an advertising job with your experience!!! What's your salary back home? Cost of living here in Doha is high. You are actually expected to leave (spend) all of the money you earn here in Doha, that's why everything has a high price. It's not worth it.

If you don,t have any other option and want to join, just go for it. But your expenses will include the following minimum amount:-

1. Car hire 1800

2. Food 400

3. Phone expenses 200

4. Misc expenses 300

Total 2700

just to give you an idea I know ppl in DXB who work in advertising but for publishing company and they sell adverts for their portfolio of magazines... a senior sales manager (similar to your job) gets 25k there..

It'll be very difficult for you to save any amount out of QR4,000 per month.

You can live a very modest life in QR4,000 if you are single.

Just ask for a few thousands more, that can be your saving.

Just search older posts @this site for cost of living in Qatar.

4k thats like nothing

entry job lowest paid get 1300 like cleaner and so

they have transport 3 meals and shared accommodation

Lowest entry waitress gets already 2500 with 0 experience

if you need to pay for utilities, transport, food, mobile you better bring some money

car will cost you min 1800 to lease per month + 200 for gas... do the math
