Need advice from Malaysian

I was offered by QP to work with Ras Laffan Industrial City Department as Lead Engineer(Utilities). Tentative date of mobilisation by mid May 2009. I will be going as bachelor first and Family will joint me by early next year.

Package offered:
a. As Senior Expatriate Staff
b. Term - Indefinite
c. Basic + allowances ( Transportation + Housing + Transportation + Location allowance + CPA )- QR37000 ( Married Status)/ QR32,000 ( Bachelor Status)
d. Furniture allowance one time - QR55K ( Married)/QR33000 (Bachelor)
e. All children education expenses, medical, insurance ,car loan and etc provided by QP.

My concern are :

1) Is the package offered reasonable compared to the cost living in Qatar and can I make good saving ?

2) Is there is any malaysian working with Ras Laffan Industrial City Dept? Appreciate if I can get their contact..

3) Where is the recommended town to stay...looking at location close to malaysian community.

Your kind advice is highly appreciated.

Thank you.

Welcome !

- You can find a good place somewhere, north of Doha, gharafa where it is closer driving to work.

- If you come alone first, no harm in staying in downtown.

- Many Msian (15++) already in QP-RLC with 50++ Msian working with RasGas and QatarGas.
