Can open a second saving account?
When open a current account in bank, we need letter from employer. This one is ok, already done.
Question is, can we open a second (saving) account in another bank?
Do we need letter again from employer.
Which bank doesn't require letter when you open a saving account?
Thanks.

Note: In my home country, I can open as many account as I like, and can be in different bank also.
Yes, we need cheque book to pay apartment rental.
I guess if you open the saving account in the same bank as your current account than you don't need letter.
But, I would like to open the saving account in another bank.
Will try to go to the Commercial Bank and ask.
Thanks everybody.
or do you have an ATM & Credit card associated with it?
I was told that there is no need to have a 'current' account if you don't use a cheque book and a savings account was more suitable.
Did you Google it first?
Well, baldrick, I didn't. Maybe I look more trustworthy than you?
I also needed a letter for a savings account with CBQ, but it shouldn't be a big deal - see your company HR and ask for a letter to open an account. Unless they only want you to have an account with a specific bank they shouldn't have a problem giving you a new letter.

My second account was a "savings account" with Commercial bank and I did need a letter :o(

For "Saving Accounts" no letter from the sponsor is required (i.e. Commercial Bank).
to open a second account.
Why not just open a savings account with the branch you are already with? You can then link the accounts and automatically transfer any amount over the current account minimium to the savings account.
