Why Ramadan in Qatar is Awesome!
Eek, those of us in media will tell you that Ramadan is a time of festive cheer, celebration, food, events, and family and friend time.
Restaurants, hotels, masjids, schools, malls, and businesses in Qatar all gear up for the holy month.
Doha is decorated from all corners, public work hours are often reduced, restaurants begin to offer high-value low-cost buffets, called iftars, every night for entire month!! And the hotels… OMG! The hotels offer up the Ramadan tents - an extravagant display of food, culture, and tradition, with chefs flown in from all over the world and an ambiance that will keep you and your friends buzzing for days.
The whole country is festive - and despite popular belief - some restaurants do remain open during the holy month during the day.
Keep your eye out for the oodles of cool events. Aspire Zone, the malls, likely your own companies, are all hosting different events. There are also tons of events for children's and families. My kids are particular fans of the traditional Qatari Garangaou.
People and businesses actively take on more charity and the atmosphere in the country is filled with giving, worship, and merry-making.
Ramadan in Qatar is awesome. Full stop. I am a Canadian that misses home all year long, for every single year I have been here, but one thing Canada doesn’t have? This awesome month long Ramadan celebration.
Hike up your socks folks, the countdown is on! 8 more days (approximately) till Ramadan covers the streets, people, and souls of Qatar.
Right, it also would work for Christmas.
What a poorly written and generic read this is. A whole article about how Ramadan is awesome IN QATAR but yet the only mention of something traditionally from Qatar, like the Garangao, is not even explained in a narrative way.
In this article swap Qatar with any other country where Ramadan is celebrated and you'll have the same valuable local insight.
Redelmo15: According to you people who write positive things about Qatar do so because they are getting paid for it. If that was the case then MM would've been a millionaire just by his posts.
Why should the OP go back? She likes it here. Maybe the people who don't like Qatar should go back to their countries.
redelmo: the OP is a She :O)
Ramadan is awesome whenever you enjoy it with family and beloved ones.
Should Ramada be really about extravagant display of food , celebration, events, and family and friend time...I thought it was bout controlling 'NAFS'.
Are you employed by the tourism board ?
Yes for many it is time of good cheer and festivities - the labourers are treated to free food in Ramadan tents - for others it is also a month of hardship
Sure, it's supposed to be a month of fasting and remembering that other people may have nothing to eat. Joys to all.
