Ramadan to begin in Qatar on Monday!
This year, the Ramadan moon has been sighted on the evening of the 5th of June, hence the first day of fasting will be tomorrow, on the 6th of June 2016.
Ramadan is the ninth month of the Hijri calendar. It signifies a month of blessings, fasting, increased prayers, charity and good actions. According to what date the moon is sighted, it can be of 29 days or 30. On the eve of 29th Shaban, there is the much anticipated wait for the moon sighting. As soon as the new crescent is sighted, Muslims have officially entered the month of Ramadan and start preparing for the Suhoor just before dawn.
Fasting commences at the break of dawn and lasts until sunset.
Ramadan Kareem Everyone!
Dua on seeing the new moon:
اللَّهُ أَكْبَرُ، اللَّهُمَّ أَهِلَّهُ عَلَيْنَا بِالَأمْنِ وَالإِيمَانِ، وَالسَّلَامَةِ وَالِإسْلَامِ، وَالتَّوْفِيقِِ لِمَا تُحِبُّ رَبَّنَا وَتَرْضَى، رَبُّنَا وَرَبُّكَ اللَّهُ
Allaahu 'Akbar, Allaahumma 'ahillahu 'alayna bil'amni wal'eemaani, wassalaamati wal-'Islaami, wattawfeeqi limaa tuhibbu Rabbanaa wa tardhaa, Rabbunaa wa Rabbukallaahu.
Allah is the Most Great. O Allah, bring us the new moon with security and Faith, with peace and in Islam, and in harmony with what our Lord loves and what pleases Him. Our Lord and your Lord is Allah.
