why life is slow in Qatar than Dubai?

salmantarik
By salmantarik

Hi List,

I am in Qatar for last few days moved from Dubai and already started missing a full life of rush and adrenaline.

Dubai is full pack and lively. There is always something to do and some where to go. Every day there is something new happening and we always had amazing weekends. Malls, Water parks, beaches, restaurants etc.....

But life is slow in Qatar and its dizzy for me. I can finish my outing within 3 hours on weekend and then nothing to do. Unfortunately malls are closed due to some security and safety work.

I hope we will have a same life like Dubai coz i am expecting a full house due to 2022.

Any suggestions or comments will be highly appreciated.

Thanks and regards,

Sam

but I also don't hate it. Until it's there and the function is there, it will remain. Law created it so only law can abolished it.

Now if you still can not comprehend that, I don't know what will. You are a deranged person!

but you're far too far to reality. Get a life! POEA is NOT the one preparing anybody to go out to work. Straightened your facts before you post as the s*** on you keeps coming out!

GodFather.

Dubai is a City and Doha is a Village.

In terms of Infrastructure it is still 10 to 15 years behind Abu Dhabi and Dubai and as for Leisure for families it is very limited, especially in the summer months.

Hope the situation will improve with time and when the weather cools off a bit, then you can visit the Zoo, parks and the Corniche with your family.

Sorry Flor you post in a public forum it means what you write can be seen by all and they have a right to comment on it if you wish. I would have hoped you understood that by now. Maybe the POEA did not properly prepare you for your overseas assignments once you had paid their bribes....

Make yourself real and complain formally and maybe, some may believe you. If not, better shut your mouth. All dirts are coming out of it! You can not even reveal your true nationality and you dare talk about POEA? You're a real s***!

You will learn salman that the opposite of what Flor says is normally nearer the truth than what he rights. Plus he is an apologist for the human rights violating POEA

By anonymous• 26 Jun 2012 21:27

I'm not saying this because I'm a Qatari or anything, but Qatar plays it smart here. Whatever is build slow could be ruined slower, however, whatever is build fast could be ruined faster.

I'm not saying these words out of nowhere. Dubai built it city in less than 10 years making it a world destination. Do you remember what happened in 2009-2010 ? How many people lost their jobs?

I would not go furthermore, I guess you get my point now.

Kind Regards,

Maybe that is why the Filipina have to work as prostitutes in their own country to service foreigners because they are not protected by the POEA. POEA members overseas never get abused, expand the remit of the POEA to help Filipinas in their home country!

Forgot to mention that the only good thing here compared to UAE is the fuel price. Which is a loooot cheaper.

No Moza ALLHAMDULILAH i am not into rubbish stuff.

Ya Nomad good point we dont have Dubailiving but there are thousand of other forums to discuss this sort of stuff in Dubai and unfortunately Qatar has only one :-P but still good to have it.

Life in Doha is so slow that someone had to create QatarLiving to alleviate boredom.

They dont have DubaiLiving in UAE do they salman?

Well, I guess b'cause Doha is still developing, we can see the roads and public transportation not well establish here, need to wait years for having that such in here, or better grab your bag and spent 2-7 days vacation in dubai/abudabi, have fun there and come back here for getting the another journey fund =)) ^_^v

Moza i was not protesting, guess this portal / forum is to ask questions and discussions but sorry to say i didnt like you attitude.

You jumped to some conclusion yourself without asking for any further info.

These forums are getting strange for me and i see people are against each other. I think i should not post any further discussions coz instead of helping, people are more of offensive then helpful.

By flor1212• 24 Jun 2012 15:54

when did I say, don't go for leisure? I said, the priority here is to WORK! Can you understand that? Leisure is not a priority here as the climate is unfriendly. Now if you work and work and earn much money, easy to fly-out for a good and nice break.

What's your problem?

By anonymous• 24 Jun 2012 14:42

Raven I am beggining to suspect that Flor works as a technical assistant, secretary here and has a lot of time on his hands. He professes to know about project management and some engineering aspects, but spends his time on here showing off how wise he is. Maybe we are the fools for engaging with him.

Moza- i never mentioned about such dirt which is spitting from your mouth. I am a family man with kids and never mentioned such standard.

I wonder if they will improve the standard of prostitution in Qatar as the quality and variety is poor compared to Dubai..... maybe that is what he misses.

it just a matter of what is the priority? Bury yourself to work and you can relax once in a while or go out of the country if you need a long break. Then go back again and work.

Life here is slower than a dying slug.

I've been here for around a month, and it is still terribly boring.

-All standards here are wayyyyyy lower than Abu Dhabi's or Dubai's.

-They charge you 4000 QAR for a shitty 1 bedroom with no AC! You have to get ur own AC!!!!! WTF

-Had to do a membership to get into a pub!!!!!

-There are around 2 million people living here, with three small shopping malls, and around 100 parking place!!!

-When u ask people what do they like about Doha, they almost always reply: It's a safe country. Which is pretty true; but you won't ever ever hear this answer from someone living in ABu Dhabi or Dubai; Although they are also extremely safe cities. I wonder why?

But hey,the jobs here are amazing; which will make our stay here a lot easier.

By Rizks• 24 Jun 2012 08:08

Naah, tats cos the government thinks in the welfare of both - their country and their people ! No wonder, we have many things for entertainment and shopping in DXB !

but here, we have to live with Corniche and some beaches which is very WELL dis-organized ! :( and for the Malls....No Commments ! :(

"Whatever u want, is available in QATAR." is just not true. I tried to get 8 GB RAM modules in Qatar. Impossible. I tried to get the SkyStar 2 HD PCIe DVB card in Qatar. Impossible. If you have specific needs, you won't find anything in Qatar that is suitable. If you look for common rubbish, you'll get everything here!

ha ha missing the pace of life in dubai.......sounds like u need to chillax a bit & take each day as it comes. I first went to dubai when i was 16 ( im 42 now ) back then, there wasnt even a proper road from dubai to abu dhabi fully!! life was soooo slow in dubai then, give it 10 years & qatar will be like dubai ;-)

In the meantime buy urself a day pass at the weekends for the ritz carlton, or the grand hyatt & mix with the westerners & socialise a bit. as for malls atm i go to the plaza mall or landmark, join a gym or read some books or do a study course in something that u always wanted to learn but never had time to do ...........enjoy!

And there are a lot of things to do in Qatar. You just don't know, because you are only few days here. And I am sure you don't have too many friends. THAT'S why it's "dizzy" for you ..

There is everything here: Malls, Water parks, beaches, restaurants etc..... All you need is friends.

On the other hand, why did you leave Dubai then? I guess no job, eh! So? Be greatful you got a job..

If we came from metropolitan city,,we are freeze here at Doha even we are in the summertime..

If you like football(EURO 2012). go to Holiday Villa or Ramada Hotel...

During weekend after the closure of City Center Mall and Villagio. Cinema at Landmark also closed. We have Royal Plaza, The Mall. Its very small shopping mall.

U can try go to Lagoona Mall at Zig Zag Tower and nearby Porto Arabia inside The Pearl Qatar. For beaches at Doha, we have KATARA or Sealine. Also u can try AQUA World. NIGHT ENTERTAIMENT you will almost not get it here. Have Fun!
