A WOMAN SHOULD KNOW....

A WOMAN SHOULD HAVE ...
enough money within her control to move out
and rent a place of her own,
even if she never wants to or needs to...

A WOMAN SHOULD HAVE ...
something perfect to wear if the employer,
or date of her dreams wants to see her in an hour...

A WOMAN SHOULD HAVE ..
a youth she's content to leave behind....

A WOMAN SHOULD HAVE ...
a past juicy enough that she's looking forward to
retelling it in her old age....

A WOMAN SHOULD HAVE .....
a set of screwdrivers, a cordless drill, and a black lace bra....

A WOMAN SHOULD HAVE ....
one friend who always makes her laugh... and one who lets her cry...

A WOMAN SHOULD HAVE ....
a good piece of furniture not previously owned by anyone else in her family...

A WOMAN SHOULD HAVE ...
eight matching plates, wine glasses with stems,
and a recipe for a meal,
that will make her guests feel honored...

A WOMAN SHOULD HAVE ....
a feeling of control over her destiny....

EVERY WOMAN SHOULD KNOW...
how to fall in love without losing herself..

EVERY WOMAN SHOULD KNOW...
how to quit a job,
break up with a lover,
and confront a friend without;
ruining the friendship...

EVERY WOMAN SHOULD KNOW...
when to try harder... and WHEN TO WALK AWAY...

EVERY WOMAN SHOULD KNOW...
that she can't change the length of her calves,
the width of her hips, or the nature of her parents..

EVERY WOMAN SHOULD KNOW...
that her childhood may not have been perfect...but it's over...

EVERY WOMAN SHOULD KNOW...
what she would and wouldn't do for love or more...

EVERY WOMAN SHOULD KNOW...
how to live alone... even if she doesn't like it...

EVERY WOMAN SHOULD KNOW.. ..
whom she can trust,
whom she can't,
and why she shouldn't take it personally...

EVERY WOMAN SHOULD KNOW...
where to go...
be it to her best friend's kitchen table...
or a charming inn in the woods...
when her soul needs soothing...

EVERY WOMAN SHOULD KNOW...
what she can and can't accomplish in a day...
a month...and a year...

Azilana, I think you are dead right, the phrase Independant woman is intimidating to most men, normally when a woman says it, the warning bells go off in a mans head. I think the media only depicts what it hears said by some well known "Feminists' as this makes good news especially if its controversal. I think in the end as you say, its through converstion and communication that one finds out what sort of person one is talking to.

And you can still be independant in a realtionship, as long as the realtionship plays a role within your independance

i'd encourage a woman like that, but yet and however, a man must sense his independance once in a while.

Sometimes (admit it or not) some men get intimidated around "Independent" women. Maybe it's because what media depicts a woman should be. Some assume and presume things which makes it kind of complicated when it's not. This always puts us (women) on the defensive mode.

I still think and believe that if one finds time to talk (communication is still the key) and understand what WE (women) wants/wish...

Azilana...........the problem is with Independant women is that some of them are so concentrated in keeping their independance that they forget in a relationship one always gives up a little of ones independance, it is the nature of the relationship, you can no longer think just of yourself.

For alot of independant women this is a non-stater, they cannot give any part up, therefore there relationships end and then they complain that men are unreasonable and just want to stiffle them and take away their independance...........in some cases this maybe true.

Independant, free thinking women are a blessing to our society and world and thank god they are there as they are interesting, fun loving, intelligent people.

Just wish sometimes they would realise that just because a man loves them and wants to be with them is not a sign that he wishes to take anything away from them........in the contrary....men want to share things with them but any independance that maybe sacrifised must be given by them not taken us..........and contrary to some beleives giving up a little of your independance is not a weakness........its a gift

A woman like that means she's as confident of her own person and can love without losing her identity.

Isn't it what most women are nowadays...INDEPENDENT.

??????????? And why not?

I would say most of that fits me apart from "a youth she's content to leave behind" and " 8 matching plates and glasses with stems" LOL

I support partially those views, of course and unfortunately it does not work like that in some cultures or Civilizations.
