Witches were dancing and roaming around windows all last night murmuring cold songs.

What a horrible storm was it last night? It reminded me “The Mummy”. Witches were dancing and roaming around windows all last night murmuring cold songs. Freezing wind and sand dust was trying to intrude from all possible and impossible slots, from exhausts, beneath the doors, window cracks..an so on.

Still there is dust storm outside, especially in West Bay area. Would we see the sun today?

I don't like to do it at all but if you buy on the Corniche there is no one who will do it unfortunately. I find the scales to be very rough on the hands too.

The secret is you need a very sharp knife and know where to hold the fish.

I personally hate cleaning and scaling fish, and have done this many times before UGH!!!

By spicemom• 7 Jan 2008 13:37
spicemom

nah uh i did not get holes in my hands (thank god) but the scales are so diff to come off considering the fish was alive moments ago(meaning fish is fresh) then the crabs are still alive when i got them home and even after snipping off their pincers they were still moving >talk abt fresh......(makes spicy padthai crabs=YUMMY)

This would not be certainly a good opening of your new flat.....well, keep tight your window now as the weather may worsen in coming days....

If prepared.....you can enjoy the bad weather too.....try something, like going on beach while it is raining...you will love to see the rain making water bubbles in the sea.

I love winter, anyway.

A few meters after the bridge, take service lane and park the car there. You will find them on the footpath...and few in boats.

Canary already explained well. Just wanted to say you Good Morning.

You can find fresh fish (waggling their tails, as Canary said) on Corniche after you cross the Ras Abu Abood bridge when coming from the Airport / C-ring Road.

I only said fish trade. I dont eat fish.

Oh no. I am not at all vegetarian. 200% non-vegetarian. only no fish.

You are keeping your brain muscles in tune with the trade and dont even tell anyone that the fresh fish means atleast 26 days old frozen one.

Good Morning Sunshine - well actually I come from a fishing town. However, people should not be surprised about the fish prices and also the fish will not be fresh.

Speaking to the Gulf Times yesterday, some Indian fishermen based in Al Khor and Ruweis said a large number of boats remain berthed at fishing harbours. Fishermen have not ventured into the sea since Saturday afternoon. A community leader of Indian fishermen said that they would not be able to return to the sea at least for the next four days.

Trading at fish market is likely to be affected for a few days in view of the slump in the arrival of fresh catch.

Yesterday, Hamour was traded between QR22 and QR24/kilo at the main market and king fish was available between QR15 and QR20/kilo, wholesale traders said. Shamal safi was sold for QR22/kilo and Sheri for QR8 per kilo. According to stall owners, prices of most varieties of fish would go up in the coming days.

Morning Canary, I'm just off to bed in a minute. Weather sounds bad in Qatar. Dust gets everywhere. Have enjoyed skiing and now am back in the big city where it's cold and overcast but not too bad really.

It was definately a bad and a cold wind and truly the trees were dancing here and there, the temperatures dropped so quickly after the last few days being warm and sunny.

Coming from Europe I don't find the wind that bad and especially not when the weather is cooler (which all are enjoying), but the sand even gets in your ears and mouth so this is probably the worst effect.

The dust looks like real fog and it is still dark outide, funnily enough there was not much dust nor sand on my car this morning. Lucky me.

You haven't seen anything yet, it has been blowing a gale here offshore for 2 days, we have 10ft high seas and the boats are being thrown around like toys, still nothing compared to the North Sea. At least it has blown away most of the haze and dust.

Gosh, is it that bad? Duststorms are never pleasant. Hope it clears.
