'Bloodbath in Gaza sparks world outrage - ...an Israeli army attack on Palestinian homes in the Gaza Strip (that) killed 18 civilians, eight of them children.' GULF TIMES

The US response? 'We regret the deaths and urge both sides to show restraint.

Israeli PM saying he was very distressed by the deaths of innocent people in Palestine, he said the carnage was the result of a "TECHNICAL FAILURE" by Israeli artillery. (Gulftimes Nov. 10-06)

OMG, I start to worry now. How far is Qatar to Israel?

LOL, seems these innocent people were just born yesterday.

it was really really sad. I don't feel desensitised (what was the word, again?).

Same last week when they were shooting women prostesting by the mosque.

Israel has regretted the deaths, but regrets don't bring back the death nor stop them from murdering someone else next week. I whish there was a way to end this bloody rutine.

I know munozchick. Governments are meant to represent their people and that's why people are broadly pointing the finger at the US and Israel. Meanwhile in both countries there is great opposition to the wars.

Hypocrisy is in all humans and all countries. I find it funny that so many people blame the United States & Israel. If the United States and Israel had absolutely no involvement in any other countries...the violence would STILL be there. Also, the U.S. and Israel are made up of millions of INDIVIDUAL people. Not all of these people have the same opinions and views. Stop blaming entire countries for wrong doing. Blame the idiots that are evil enough to do the wrong doing.

There is a small poem by a spanish speaking poet Pablo Russo. I'll try to translate it into English.

We are used to the pocket calculators

And the big numbers of dead and homeless

Don't reach our hearts anymore

What do we have to do

To feel the tears of a child?

Perhaps we should again

Start writing numbers

using pencil and paper?

Hali80: no boost? It's a bad sign. It means that Mr. Dracula will need a bigger dose of this drug.

Desensitized--goodness most conservatives in Canada believe that the Palestinians somehow deserve this onslaught...they feel the words "innocent" and "Palestinian" are some sort of oxymoron. Honestly there is just so much pro-Israeli media and propoganda that ensures no one 'bats a lash' when high numbers of Palestinians are murdered regardless of what they are doing, even it's just a family sitting on beach enjoying a picnic.

***Now picture this, an Israeli family (parents, three small children including an infant, and grandparents)are having a picnic on a beach. The Palestinian army launches an attack killing all members of the family except one of the children who is seen on television crying over her dead father's body.

This scene and crime would illicit such great emotion and anger in the general population, yet when this did happen to a Palestinian family in Gaza not to long ago, the most we did was simply 'bat a lash'.

.. that when 18 poeple are murdered in Gaza, it still takes second billing to mid-term elections in the US and barely makes front page news at all!

I'm not sure what disgusts me more - the fact that where this story sits in the papers reflects our general apathy (mine included) towards the Palestinian issue... or the fact that 18 people were just killed.. and they are just 18 more than yesterday's usual toll of of those who died of the 'usual' causes i.e. disease and poverty.

On days like this, I am ashamed to be a citizen of a 'Great' British Kingdom that sits idly by and watches.

hali80: actually you are not too far away from truth when you say that Dracula is living on blood. US economy needs a war every 8 to 10 years to get a boost.

do you think that the USA has a cleaner record than Israel? their history never shows a sign of mercy.. starting from the 14th century where they killed millions of indian american, to japan where they bombed it by nuclear bombs, to Iraq where they killed 3/4 million people so far.

how can a country with such a clean record redeems Israel for killing few thousand here and there. Dracula is living on blood

It's better than saying that Israel has to defend itself.
