the article did mention that:

"The Council forwarded the draft law, along with its proposals, for approval by the Cabinet."

Draft. Not yet approved. Let's talk about it again when it is final and approved. :)

I have first hand info into this matter. Can't divulge it but as far as we're concern it will be uniform since there is a letter from our HR. Hey! Merry Christmas!! :)

Hu Wan, they'll have 3 pay scales (they seem to say that's uniform).

Om Maui, sag, and srqa believe what you want. You'll see.

"All of the government is currently preparing a list of employees with salary changes according to the new law, this list only includes Qataris."

Bleu, How do you know this? you work in any Govt HR dept?

I'll repeat what I said:

This is for people in the government on grades: the Qataris. All the expatriates are on fixed salaries since 2001 (they're not on a pay scale).

They're actually quoting "an Arabic daily", which means this is just one guy understood from a translation.

A few months ago "an Arabic daily" published the draft law with the pay scales, the law doesn't say it's only for Qataris, but it says it's only for people who have a grade.

All of the government is currently preparing a list of employees with salary changes according to the new law, this list only includes Qataris.

springs eternal. How would you know there wouldn't be adjustments? Are you privy or work for a govt. corp? Don't be a grinch. :)

but the happy question is: which pay scale benchmark would they use? Hope it would be QP! But this is a really welcome news for some expats who are working in the various govt. owned companies, but whose salaries are much less than their counterparts for the same position. And we are very thankful indeed that Qatar is very generous amidst the economic slowdown happening around the world. This is a win-win situation and I take it personally as a christmas gift. I am very happy for everyone who will benefit from this! srqa, bearer of good news, thank you!! :)

the news article didn't specifically say it's nationals only. but my understanding was this covers all government employees, non nationals and nationals alike.

find out from your HR department. they should be adept with this. unfortunately, am not working in govt firm, so I am not :)

The photo on the peninsula's website is somewhat unrelated to the article.

This is for people in the government on grades: the Qataris.

All the expats are on fixed salaries since 2001.
