Singles Social Life

Hello everyone! I am a newbie and will be moving to Doha in the new year. I am from the UK and single in my late 30s. Is there a good social life for singles - or is it difficult to meet people? Hope you can help.

Hello all, my name is Shawn from Canada. Similar to James C I am also moving to Qatar within a few months. I was wondering if there are any singles events in Qatar that cater to different communities. I am 31 and am a brown guy who is born and raised in Canada. Maybe Sandeep can answer this one best :)

Also, for all the expats that have moved there recently, what would you say is the biggest change or challenge for you living and working in Qatar?

Thank you.

There IS "real" life. Difficult to meet people? Not really, it all depends on you, mainly your attitude to life. The guys outnumber the girls and figuratively speaking, this is a small place and conservative, not as metropolitan as Dubai so you'll have many challenges, to say the least. But we find our niches (or not, again depending on one's attitude). Mostly, there are private parties all over eg. pool parties. Some general big gatherings called by the QL Social Group. Used to be more active.

Good pubs are rather few but Gypsy posted a very good write up some time ago - outdated but would help.

a_damasco - "For certain you will love the sun!" - That was tongue-in-cheek. Lol! This place is an open oven for 8 months of the year!

Welcome to Qatar! :0)

You see, James, you get a lot of "social" life on QL, but unfortunately no "real" life.

If you are white brit then girls will be throwing themselves at you

If you are a black british guy then girls will be throwing themselves at you

If you are an Asian who migrated to UK then you pull out your passport and girls will be throwing themselves at you

Moral of the story: Get your butt down here and girls will be throwing themselves at you :)

I apologise to anyone who doesn't get my sense of humour :)
