lets clear the language issue up

I speak several languages but with varying levels of fluencies... if i think i do not have the fluency i do not broach any contreversial topic.

stop hiding behind 'ohh i was misunderstood because of my English' utter bollocks. your english is good enough to show yr true colours.

own what you did. it was wrong. accept that and learn.

what you said was heinous (v. horrible) you may be involved in good organisations but you are not a decent person.

a lot of women help your charities and they must be made aware of what they are dealing with.

rape is not a joke - so don't hide behind that one either.

Ok you asked for it and you are getting it.

I am crying for :-

1. Those who are getting raped in your own country at your door step by their own reletives yet can not open the mouth for the the fear of getting killed by their own relative to protect the family honour.

2. Those who in your country suffer silently at your aggresors hand deep in her throat.

3. your poeple's inability to protect your own mothers, sisters and daughters from their own friends and reletives.

and I am angry at

The silence treatment you receiving from the victim is inteperarated as enjoyment, willingnous and corporation and expoiting their weekness for centuries in your own backyard yet nothing has been done yet to address the issue beacause you want the system to go on as it is always to your advantage.

This what happening there and you think when you come out here this theory of yours apply to the rest of the universe. You are made to think like this due to this system of yours of your own country.

I feel sick and sorry for you.

Also note that I didn't even want to give you a reply to your comments on me personally and my country.

Beacause I think condemned criminals like you beyond repairs.

I suggest that you, being a member of the Rotary International, live up to and always be aware of the 4-WAY TEST even in your posts. I pity you because you may be sincerely sorry but who would believe you now?

So, in case you forgot, here again is the 4-WAY TEST:

"Of the things we think, say or do:

Is it the TRUTH?

Is it FAIR to all concerned?

Will it build GOODWILL and BETTER FRIENDSHIPS?

Will it be BENEFICIAL to all concerned?"

So apply this "4-way test" to what you said regarding rape victims and you will find yourself not living up to your club's motto.

(PS.I am not a member of the Rotary but I believe in this motto.)

Also, I suggest you lay low for a while maybe 6 months to 1 year before posting something again here. Wait until all the heat you generate subside or until Gypsy, DaRuDe, sl and company forget you ever existed. Maybe you can post in QatarPoint in the meantime. OK?

I think you should walk away from this, right or wrong you are never going to get anywhere. I don't think that you are a rapist and that guess that you have misrepresented yourself along the way but you you don't always help yourself. This is a subject that Gypsy obviously feels strongly about and you also have to respect that. But please, time to stop, all of you before someone does call the moderator and the ability of this site to allow freedom of speech on both sides is compromised. Everyone has had their say.

Doha,Qatar-June11 2007-06-12

The International federation for Human Rights(FIDH) in co-operation with the National Human Rights Committee of Qatar (NHRC) organized an inter-regional conference to discuss the situation of migrants workers in Asia and Arab regions.

This conference ,held in Doha , Qatar on 10 and 11 June 2007 , was the first one to gather 50 participants , among which Qatari Officials and representatives of the civil society , human rights NGOs and trade unions from several Arab and Asian origin and host countries.

The participants express their thanks to the state of Qatar for hosting this conference and their appreciation for NHRC and FIDH for organizing it.

First and foremost all migrants are human beings entitled to fundamental rights regardless of their nationality and status even in the case of undocumented migrants; while some rights attach only to citizens and legal migrants, others apply even to undocumented migrants. We reaffirm that human beings are equal without any discrimination and that universal rights are based on human dignity. These rights, based on the Universal declaration of Human Rights and other international conventions, include, at a minimum, the right to be recognized as a person and to access the protection of the authorities and the judiciary , without discrimination of race or gender, the right to be free from arbitrary arrest and detention, the right not to be deported without prior review of their cases by an independent judiciary in order to ensure that their right to justice and due process was duly respected, the right to be free from torture, slavery and slavery-like conditions, and the right to freedom of belief and religion.

We assert the responsibility of origin and host countries in safeguarding and strengthening human rights and basic liberties including those of migrant workers and the responsibility of the participants and the civil society in general to defend these rights.

The participants reviewed the abuses suffered by migrant workers in their countries of origin as well as in host countries, including the exploitation by the recruiting agencies, the fake contracts, double contracts, visa trafficking, shouldering travel expenses on migrants, and employing them in jobs that are not in conformity with those stipulated in the contract including non –decent jobs.

These abuses lead many migrants to escape and sometimes commit suicide.

Migrant workers are victims twice: once by their abusers and another by the system which penalizes them by detention and deportation.

In order to facilitate the continuation of pro-active dialogue, namely by encouraging NGOs to co-operate with national human rights institutions in the countries involved, based on tolerance and a spirit of mutual understanding and cultural exchange:

We recommend:

- All countries must publish national action plans and policies to protect the labour rights of all workers, including migrant workers without discrimination;

- Capacity building activities and training for government , police, parliamentarians, civil society and other stakeholders;

- All countries shall recognise the international Day of Migrants on December 18th and work to promote and protect the right of migrants;

- FIDH and NHRC of Qatar and actors involved should establish a progress review , twice a year, on the legislation and on the social situation of foreign workers in the GCC;

- FIDH should facilitate the establishment of an inter-regional network, between Arab and Asian organizations interested in the issues related to the situation of migrant workers through regular meetings and exchange of information;

- Campaigning and lobbying for the ratification and monitoring the implementation of international and regional human rights instruments (including the International Convention on Migrant Workers, ILO convention, the International covenants 1966, the Arab charter of Human Rights and the ASEAN Declaration to protect and promote migrant workers and others) at a national level;

- Campaigning for the conclusion of bilateral agreements between origin and host countries on the regulation of migration;

- Formulating contracts which are ratified by the ministries of labour in both origin and host countries and for the sponsor to be legally registered with the ministries of labour so that migrant workers can have access to that information;

- Requests the States to treat migrant workers, including domestic workers, as equal before the national labour law;

- Domestic work should be legislated for within national labour laws;

- Raising awareness among migrant workers through legal protection /information campaign by NGOs (both specialized and general mandate), Embassies, National human rights institutions, and trade unions;

- NGOs should publish a booklet on migrants’ rights translated into the origin countries’ languages, and a directory of organizations in origin and host countries in order for migrants to learn about their rights. Migrant workers should be involved in trade unions and have acessto counselling and advice bureaus;

- Women NGOs should link with female migrant workers and offer assistance of a socio-legal nature;

- Human rights NGOs with a general mandate in the Arab region should engage with the issue of migrant workers;

- Address the serious problem of trafficking of human beings, through the adoption of comprehensive national legislation and policies, including the establishment of National bodies in order to enforce the effective implementation of national policies.
