RAPE: What they say and the "Truth" about it

azilana7037
By azilana7037

What they say: 'Rapists look evil'
The truth: Rapists are usually 'ordinary' guys, of all ages and backgrounds

What they say: 'Rape is committed by strangers in dark alleys'
The truth: In 80-90% of cases the attacker is known to the victim, and it may occur in your own home

What they say: 'Nice girls don't get raped'
The truth: Women of all ages and from all different backgrounds can be the victims of rape

What they say: 'She was asking for it'
The truth: Drinking, flirting or dressing in a 'sexy' way is not an invitation for sex

What they say: 'If he pays for dinner and drinks, she owes him sex'
The truth: It doesn't matter how much he spends, sex can't be expected as a payback

What they say: 'Guys can't control their sexual urges'
The truth: Guys are fully capable of controlling their sexual desires - it's about choice

What they say: 'Girls cry rape when they didn't enjoy it' 'She didn't scream or fight back, so it wasn't rape'
The truth: Only 2-7% of rapes reported are false claims (no higher than for any other crime)

What they say: 'She didn't scream or fight back, so it wasn't rape'
The truth: Women may be paralysed with fear - rape is rape, regardless of whether there's a struggle

What they say: 'It's not rape unless she's threatened with a knife or a gun'
The truth: Many victims are scared of losing their lives and being hurt even when no weapon or obvious physical force is used

What they say: 'She didn't say no'
The truth: There are many ways that people say no to sex without using the word 'no' (e.g. 'I've got a boyfriend', 'Let's just go to sleep', 'I'm not sure', 'I'd really like to but …', 'You're not my type', 'You've been drinking', 'I've been drinking', 'I want to be alone', 'Don't touch me', 'I'm not in the mood')

"I m not a kid....This thread didnt have anything in substance.... Its just a general topic and previously there were people banned for posting topics saying that the author was a troll...."

MY ANSWER: MIR83, we know who's who and what's what and who's talking with sense or not. YOU know very well WHO got banned and WHO are the TROLLS. Need I remind you WHY SPUTNIK (aka CUTESRK) GOT BANNED?

Thank you for stating your opinion that THIS THREAD HAS NO SUBSTANCE. You're entitled to your opinion...SO AM I (of you) but I'll let it slide.

Just don't forget to drink your milk :-P

and realize they weren't at fault if they got raped. When I was growing up, the girl could be put on trial and have her past brought up and usually that would get the rapist off the charge if she had dated guys or dressed in what was considered provocatively. thank goodness that has changed for the most part. Even as early as 1980 there was no such thing as date rape. Its one of the most prevalent forms of rape but no one wants to report it due to the victim thinking no one would believe her or she caused it somehow.

Kellysheroes...you're right..men can get raped..not only by women but by other men. Its still a crime of violence and not gender exclusive.

I used to work with women who were victims of rape and it has a horrible impact upon them mentally and physically in some cases. It also carries a stigma with it, which is why some women never report it.

Again..thanks Azi...you trouble maker, you...

I feel sad when I read about such things. Many of my Japanese friends have had sexual encounters where they say "I didn't do anythiing because I just wanted it to end" or "I didnt report it because I was embarassed or just want to forget it".

That's why I made a few youtube videos called

Just say No!

The main point is to stand up!

Wonder why rape means the criminal is a male and the victim is a female.

There are cases where women rape men. So it is not always guys who rape gals.

One piece of advice : Do a survey of the responses to this thread

And compare it to the definition mentioned in the Oxford Dictionary.... Chck out the disparaties and endorse ur opinion.... That shud have satisfied you by then....
