I can conclude that

the question mark is for the reaserch work that has been going on

inside the universities and schools.

qatar government want to introduce a science fair on which only

the people of qatar residence will join.

Mila, your question rasied more information than those "question" signs (and you did it free).

I think you can be much better than that bunch of marketing athletes.

Dont think any of us would be curious about knowing OR trying to know what they are trying to communicate. Most of us are discussing their master-mind approach.

Well done to you.

Whats even better is that ask a friend or colleague to drive, and you can read the question mark from the passenger seat.

research and awareness??? researching for what? number of accidents it would make in the major R/A? I think it would be better if these "?" were placed in malls, schools etc... and have a booth or table saying what you are trying to convey to the people instead of letting us wonder what in the world those marks are.

May I raise question... who's Idea was it to place them at round-abouts? must be genius.. becasue I think it as a perfect mistake. It must not be done by one person alone, it must be a collective effort to make nothing of something.

After reading comments over here, I tried few times again to have a look/read the boards while crossing some round-about... but I wasnt able to read anything on them.

When the SEC asked to put those signs in the roundabouts the traffic safety office said no. You can't put something distracting with such small text somewhere that demands your full attention to the land cruiser on your right which is about to turn left across all three lanes. (some paraphrasing here)

But they "went through another door" and now the signs are everywhere. I hope they got some funding from the panelbeaters association or Toyota Genuine Parts.

I am not sure about others but as far as I am concerned... I daily pass by 04 round abouts and there are more than 10 Signs that I pass by. May be I am not that good, but not once, I am able to read it or figure out what these signs are.

I wonder who put them in middle of the round about (most crowded place on raod) and I wonder whether they expect someone to read it?

my mom says they were at the traffic week exhibition and since thats finished they put them on roundabouts since there was nothing else to do with them.

She also says the question mark represents "Ever Wondered" why you overspeed, drive rash, etc.

We printed those Question marks. They are one of the reasons why QL mugs

took soo long to be printed. But I dont know what they are for :/

As some already mentioned here, it’s the “Ever Wondered” campaign launched by the Supreme Education Council. It will be installed in key locations and is already published in papers, magazines, council’s website and will be on school buses too.

It’s a good first step for attention; though don’t like to see it on main driving roads. The "Research Skills Development Unit" program aims to develop critical and creative thinking skills among students and teachers. Also promotes discovery in the whole of Qatar.

But what’s next? Will there be sort of awareness educational brochures or leaflets given away to people or the latter can pick them up to learn more about scientific research? I hear it’s an extensive campaign, it cannot just commence with start with big "Question Marks” and end with our bigger “Exclamation Marks” as to what this is leading to!

yes it is rather dangerous, when you busy looking at the question mark at roundabout and not concentrating on your driving. So now that we know what is all about, safe drive people. Remember your family waiting for you at home.

put those stupid question marks in the RAB if we get in a crash because some idiot was trying to read them and not watching the road?   That's what I wonder----

I was thinking about the same, All these question marks are more distraction on dangerous roundabouts, you can confuse them easally with a small person standing to cross the roundabout, i thinking already that roundabouts are useless and dangerous, i think and you can note that, 90% of accidents happens on roundabounts....

medo ...your right it gets me to think why im here....

They're from Supreme Education Council. Weird and pointless really, doesn't convey much of a message, unless of course if they're willing to replace all those question marks with answers at all places. LOL.

Actually reminds me of this gameshow on TV called, 'Are you smarter than a fifth grader' or something like that.

Yesterday I was driving from Simaisma to Doha, and just before the Golf course they put a check point in the round about. (Which normally is for checking RP`s) but in this case they were just giving a bloody piece of paper for a Football game.

I cant believe they just put to Police cars (RED Land Cruisers in the middle of the road) and use the police officers to give Football tournament panflet.

Now with this Question Signs maybe they want people to crash in the round about while reading and driving...

TYhey are an advert for an education inititive to promate reseach activities. There was an advert in the paper for it last week but it was so vague as to be meaningless. I guess it is a rolling campaign to attract interest by being mysterious.
