angel - they've tried and tried and tried and tried to get charity status from the 'higher authorities', but so far no luck. Chelsea will fill you in on the reasons why it hasn't been granted, if she thinks it is appropriate to discuss them on a public forum!

Animal protection is not a priority in this part of the world... Shelter is run on donation in kind. Chelsea will explain more

first how can you run this kind of organization without any fund?hope this kind of question is not rude to you,you are rescuing a stray dogs here in qatar,why you dont go to the higher authorities to seek help,for the proper flowing of QAWS?

It seems Qatar Insulation Factory is closed for the day, we can only do it on Saturday or Sunday.

I will go to some shops in the afternoon to see if the Roof and Wall insulation is available.

The insulation is the most important at the moment because the roof and walls cant go up without it.

As a rough guide we need 150 sq.m of roof insulation and 100 sq.m of wall insulation (apparently not the same thing!).

I'm trying to get a quote but unfortunately I can't find an insulation company with a working telephone number!

the material availability is not the problem...it's THE FUNDS.

I hope there's a big turnout tomorrow too. I know that QAR20(or more) from each won't generate enough but it's a start.

Unfortunately not - because of where we've built the shelter, there's no external walls for window a/cs.

We also have to replace 2 of the existing window a/cs in the older part of the shelter with splits because we've built the new kennels up against the wall and have had to remove them.

Due to a severe lack of space that's the only place where they could have been built.

We need 250 sq.m Roofing Insulation definitely and hopefully some insulation sheets for the walls too !!

And we also need split a/c's but they're not a priority at the moment - we need to get the walls up first!

Speed and the other guys from QLVG have been fantastic and we wouldn't have got this far without them!

There are simple ways yet effective:

1. use loose aggregates to cover the roof

2. build a shade on top of the roof using those green mesh rolls
