Qatar School Holidays
Hi Folks,
I am doing a study about the school calendars in different parts of Asia, and I have not been able to find much on the 'net about Qatar. I would be very grateful if you could give me the following information (Rough dates are fine):
a) When does the school year start in Qatar? When does it end?
b) What are the main breaks? (such as the summer, xmas and easter breaks in the Western world)
Thanks a million,
Rob
My husband is attached to Qatar Steel. Myself and my two children age 8 and 11 yrs will be joining him late December 2008. Is there any local schools, my children can attend. English language is not an issue, but Arabic is zero to them. We also need tutor for Arabic communication. Anybody can assist me?
Hi dohagirl, getinandstayin, Qatarcat and e46M3,
Thank you for responding. I find the information very helpful.
Cheers,
Rob
Go to http://www.dohacollege.com They have a calendar.
School just started on Monday at most international schools. Local schools unusually began mid August because of the extenuating circumstances of the Asian Games taking place 1-15 December during which all local schools will close.
You are, and it is. I'm not a teacher though :P
Having said that, im sure some teachers here will say im talking cr@p and its all wrong :P
School year starts end of september(ish) +/- 2 weeks. Ends about june time. Terms usually end dec/jan.... mar/apr ... and of course jun. end of term breaks usually a couple of weeks.
Major breaks, other than summer, are dependant on the two eid festivals signalling end of ramadhan and hajj. These are lunar based and change every year (-11 days per year)
Schools start at different times and get out at different times because they are mostly private schools.
