private driving instructor

Hi there,

I recently came to Doha from US and passed my computer based sign test (for driving licence) as well as under the bonnet parts identification test. They give me date for my road test by the end of this month. I have about 15 years of driving experience in US and have been driving in Doha for few weeks.  I would like to know what are the expectation like parallel parking, reverse, etc..

Also I would like to spend an hour with the private driving instructor who is familiar with the process and can give me some tips and/or show me the area where test is administered.

Please share your experience and let me konw if you know some private driving instructor.

Your help is very much appreciated.

Thanks

Thanks to both of you who responded and provided your valuable suggestions. I ended up going for driving test without taking any lessons as I was too busy at work. But thanks God that I passed it. My test was scheduled at Qatar driving school. I reached there at 5:30 AM and was done with license in my hand at about 11:30. The worst part was waiting so long. There were about 100 (approx) people for driving test that day. About one third of people passed.

Again thanks for your tips.

The only tricky part wht I had faced during the time of road test is that the Test inspector asked me stop the car in no parking area...which I didnt. Yez off course the rest of the signals and use of all three mirror on 3 seconds basis will have a better impression. Last but not least the min u enter d car set ur driving seat all 3 mirror as per ur convenience thn seat belt then start the car...this is d correct order of the day.cheers

hi, it would be an easy task for you as you have US licence and driving experience. Which is the driving school through you applied for the test? if you applied for a direct test, you can demand for a hourly basis or day basis class. When I applied for direct test, I requested for a one day(2 hrs) class, cost me 250 QR. I practiced 1 hour inside the driving school for L - ramp test and parking. Rest one hour I practiced through the roads, mine was Gulf Driving School. Where the entire two hours you will be accompanied by a regd. instructor of the school.

about the test, within the driving school you have L ramp and parking once you pass both next is Road test. Where you drive the car and the vehicle inspector sits near to you. He observe you for proper signals, use of mirrors, speed limits,and so on. i think after your one day Practice with an instructor , you will get an idea about it. if you need any more clarifications please feel free to ask me, I can help you as I know.
