For all the football lovers there is a bad news. The news is that playing football at the airport garden ( In front of the airport signals ) has been banned by the Doha Municipality. The reason being that by playing football the grass is not able to grom properly. Now my question is that where are we expatriate people supposed to play football. As per my knowledge if you want to join any club for playin football you have to be a qatari. So what do you guys think ............

Ive taken my son a few times. At night its a mixture of locals and Indian expats. Theyre all happy for you to join in, no problem at all. The pitch itself is "artifcial grass", ( sort of), but its full of glass, and i mean full. I guess its easier to smash your bottles than take them home to the bin.

i think there are some common football grounds around Doha. I've seen one at AbuHamour.

Also try out some of the school grounds.

You should check with Qatar Sports Club as this is what they told me when I went there.

My friends used to play soccer at Al Ahli when they were working at the Asian Games but not anymore coz they club wont let them play as their contract with the Asian Games Committe is over.

If you know of any club that allows people to play for recreation let me know and I will be the first one to join.

You don't have to be a Qatari to join a football club :S that's absurd...

I've got a French friend and Ozzy and a Brit who go to a variety of clubs all the time.

damn! i play there regularly!.... it was one of the last open, grassy playing grounds left!

great! let the grass grow, and let them groom it and put it in the showcase.
