NonaMom??
A woman in Mexico has recently announced that she's pregnant with 9 babies after IVF treatments. (May or may not be a hoax)
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2136004/Nonamum-Karla-Vanessa-Pe...
She isn't the first person to attempt to give birth to 9, but if they all survive she will be the first person to give birth to 9 that all survive.
"Karla Vanessa Perez's children are not the first nonuplets to be born, but if they all live they will be the first to survive.
A set was born on June 13, 1971 in Sydney, Australia, to Geraldine Brodrick. None of the five boys and four girls lived. Two were stillborn and the last to survive died six days after birth.
Nonuplets were also born on March 26, 1999, in Malaysia to Zurina Mat Saad. She had five boys and four girls (Adam, Nuh, Idris, Soleh, Hud, Aishah, Khadijah, Fatimah and Umi Kalsom) but none of them survived more than six hours.
Nadya Suleman - or 'Octomum' - holds the world record for the most children delivered at a single birth to survive with her eight babies.
Before that, the record was held by Bobbie McCaughey, who gave birth to four boys and three girls in 1997 at the University hospital, Iowa in United State of America."
I'm sorry, but given that none of the other "nontuplets" survived, do you think the parents are being foolish and selfish to attempt to give birth to all 9 children? Should she do what doctors recommend and abort a couple of them, so that the one's left can be delivered safely and healthily?
The reason they implant so many eggs is that so few of them will actually stick. There's plenty of people who get 9 eggs implanted and end up not pregnant, or only carry one to term. When you go in, it's with the stipulation that IF all of the eggs implant (or too many implant, which is again a 1/100,000 chance) you will selectively abort down to a reasonable number (say quadruplets).
Actually here are the statistics for the chances of a live birth with IVF:
# For women younger than 35, the percentage of live births per cycle is 39.6%.
# For women ages 35 to 37, the percentage of live births per cycle is 30.5%.
# For women ages 38 to 40, the percentage of live births per cycle is 20.9%.
# For women ages 41 to 42, the percentage of live births per cycle is 11.5%.
# For women ages 43, the percentage of live births per cycle is 6.2%.
So even at the optimal age, of under 35, less than half of IVF treatments (and this does mean multiple implantation) will result in a live birth of one child.
IVF is extremely expensive as well, and the funny thing is the women who stupidly choose to try and carry 8 and 9 babies to term already have children? This mexican woman has triplets, Geraldine Broderick has 2 girls, and Octomom, well, she already had 6 kids!
The ones that choose to carry out these risky pregnancies are just attention seekers in my book.
"..However, doubts have been cast over the claims after a local doctor came forward and said she recently performed an ultra-sound on Perez but her uterus was empty."
Also, it's not clear what kind of fertility treatment by the doctor could have lead to nine non-identical nonuplets!!
Do you think we should be even talking about something which, in most probablity is a hoax?
very bad and very wrong.
- financial problems will just start. wait untill they go to school...
- emotional problem too? will she have enough time for all 12?
- can't the doctor who performed the fertilisation be charged of endangering the life of the foetusses/babies? at least questioning his treatment plan of fertilsing 9 babies into a woman who already has triplets. is it a deliberate try to get into guiness world record on the expense of the babies?
- the mom now is a "star"? taking much attention from the media even gathering donations that otherwise would be covering overpopulation, and children in need elsewhere.

Was this done on purpose? If so,knowing the slim chances of the babies surviving or even living a life without abnormalities, it's terrible that anyone should be legally allowed to do this! Yeah so she'll break a record if they do live...big whoops! And if they don't?Well at least she tried.. grrrrrr! Nope this is wrong, plain wrong. It's playing with life and not just her own but the life of innocent little beings who may have to endure much pain because their "mother" wants to break a record and/or attempt something no one has achieved!!
Selective aborting of fetuses should not be an option. She has decided to go this direction and should go the distance.
and the woman's pelvic bone is shaped to carry 1 or 2 fetuses up to 9 months...but 9?
Is MAN/HUMAN are being so ridiculous of doing things NOT NORMAL coz it could be done?
very sensitive... my prayers with the parents... may they be right guided.. aameen.
After the famous Suleman Octuplets, Nonuplets are on the way if the news is true. Can we expect the Decaplets?
some of them must be taken away and cared after by others/state. do u really believe she can take care of all of them at once?
I can understand that it would be very very hard to decide which fetuses to abort, but isn't it better to go through the pain when they aren't even kicking and moving yet, than to carry them for 8 or 9 months and have them all die? Or even if they did live, the chances of physical and mental problems are enormous! Not to mention the issue of trying to feed, clothe and shelter 9 babies!
