National Day Organizing Committee Invitation

I just received the following via SMS:

The State National Day Organizing Committee cordially invites the esteemed public to attend the National Day Parade. Doha Corniche.
8:00 am
Date 18 December
National Day the day of Solidarity, Loyalty and honor

Remember this post for parking details.

I can safely say that my comment is more appropriate for the activity on QND coz i'm one of those who were restrained (to go to corniche) by uniformed men with cudgels on their hand :-)

lucky for them i didn't came to my mind to get snaps of what they're doing that time ^_^

Well, sorry for not believing you :(

most probably you and your friends belongs to the 'Esteemed Public' and not to the 'Simple Public' as we are :)

Observer, is your comment about the friday in the mall or the activity during qatar national day? coz its really the reality in this country - maybe we just need to adapt.

Who said that this day was only for families? My friends went there with no problem! maybe u mean sitting on the theater was for families only.

All the selected ones that are allowed in shopping malls on Fridays were considered under the category of "ESTEEMED PUBLIC".

The State National Day Organizing Committee cordially invites the "ESTEEMED PUBLIC" to attend the National Day Parade. Doha Corniche.

8:00 am

Date 18 December

National Day the day of Solidarity, Loyalty and honor

I guess the meaning of 'Esteemed Public' here in Qatar is 'Family Only'.

So be smart next time when Qtel invites the 'Esteemed Public' because you know now what it means to them :-0

Tabularasa.....I am 100% agree with u.

The Day of Solidarity, Loyalty and honor was eventually restricted to "families" only. I wonder why QTEL invited all its costumer to attend the "show" that supposed to be done only for families.

For sure somebodies has to improve a lot in this state if they want to consider themselves civilized

thank you

Oh, right. So Q-Tel sends me a message saying the parade is at 8am AFTER the Peninsula has said it has been rescheduled from 8am to "the evening" whatever time that may be (it probably won't go down too well with the parachutists), while the guys with the camels told me a couple of days ago that they would be parading past someone at 2.30pm.

Doesn't anybody have an official, up-to-date schedule of events ... or is it just the usual nobody (not even the organisers) knows what's happening scenario?

It's amazing. I can sit in Qatar and plan a day out at an event in Britain six months in advance, turn up and everything is happening as expected. Here I can't get usable information on the biggest state-organised event of the year 48 hours in advance.
