Mobile phone spying’ key cause of Saudi divorces

Nearly 20 per cent of divorce cases in Saudi Arabia are because spouses spy on each other through their mobile phones, according to a prominent Saudi Muslim scholar.

Sheikh Abdullah Al Mutlaq, a member of the 7-man Supreme Scholars Committee, said such practises are not permitted in Islam because they amount to spying.

“About 20 per cent of divorces in the kingdom are because husbands and wives search the others’ mobile phones,” he said, quoted by Saudi newspapers.

“These phones may contain bad things or trouble. Husbands and wives should stop such practises because they only lead to trouble and separation.

“They should trust each other so they will have a stable marital life.”

Well said by the Sheikh – Trust is the key to any relationship

Agreed. Mobile phones are 'Haram'. It's time for a Fatwa on this!
