McDonald's celebrates healthy lifestyles with community
As part of its corporate social responsibility programme, McDonald's Qatar is supporting 'We are all at risk of disability' initiative that encourages active and healthy lifestyle in Qatar.
The initiative aims to raise awareness of disabilities amongst the local community and encourages Qatari residents to work together to create a strong network to support those with special needs.
Commenting on this initiative Al Mana Restaurants & Food Co's Kamal Saleh al Mana said:
"McDonald's firmly believes in giving back to the communities it operates in. We aim to provide support and encouragement to the people who need it the most, especially people with special needs. We are here to tell them that life never stops at the disability, and you can do a lot of great things, contribute to your family and community, and overcome all and any obstacles."
'We are all at risk of disability' is a sport event launched on the occasion of National Sports Day.
The event, sponsored by McDonald's Qatar lasted six days and was held at Katara Cultural Village.
The event gathered people from all walks of life, healthy and disabled, and was a unique experience making them play and compete together reflecting the slogan 'feel with them, participate with them' in a fun environment.
Experiencing other people's disability was a wakeup call for the healthy ones, to appreciate what they have and to build their sense of responsibility towards themselves and others, assist them and cause no harm to them.
It reminds people that everyone is at risk of disability and helps them understand the necessary precautions to be taken to lead a healthy and fulfilling life.
"McDonald's CSR strategy aims to support the local community in all fields. It is part of its values and principles, and we will continue our efforts to contribute in the development of our community and country," Mana added.
"We wanted to highlight the importance of sports in maintaining a healthy life, and empower those with any disabilities. It is McDonald's message to motivate and inspire them and bring happiness into their lives."
