Kepada yang berniat nak kojo kat Qatar...

Cost of Living kat sini 2 atau 3 kali ganda dari kat M'sia.

Kalau nak kerja sini base salary QR15K tu OK...housing Allowance minta QR8K...sbb average harga 1 rumah/apt 3 bilik kat sini ialah QR8K sebulan...allowance kereta minta QR1K...

Normal kos for Nasi Campur Minang dan Mi Goreng ialah QR15.

Ini belum masuk harga tiket family balik raya puasa...kalau tak negotiate betul...savings cukup untuk beli tiket balik raya posa jer...

lesen kereta sini susah nak dapat...M'sian license tak recognize...kena ambil JPJ school kat sini..for..3 weeks ..biasanya lepas 3 bulan dan 3 kali driving test wt the traffic police...baru dapat lesen...

Better ask for a Lump Sum QR25K per month..

Good Luck...!!!

Hi,

I have been working as a banker having specialization in corporate banking in Malaysia. I have been offered a job in Qatar for a RM position with a salary of approximately QR 21K of which QR13.5 will be for base salary and the remaining for my transport & housing allowances. I want to know will this amount be sufficent as I was informed 30% of ur salary allocated for ur accomodation. Not sure the remaining amount will ensure u to live comfortably and make any savings part of my salary. Will this amount be sufficient for me?

I want to know about living expenses in Qatar as of now.

Thanks.

Qatar airways is terrible! We will never use them again. We took a Qatar/KL flight in December 2006, as food was about to served the plane hit some bad turbulence and lost height dramatically. An older muslim lady at the rear of the plane (just behind us) started panicking and praying loudly, the stewardess's abandonded their food trolleys and two of them crouched down in the aisles. The whole plane was shaking quite violently and I really thought we were going down, this continued for 30 to 45 minutes and during this time there was no reassurance at all from the flight crew. Eventually we levelled out and the shaking stopped, but later on in the flight we experienced the same thing for 3 or 4 short periods. We eventually landed safely at KL, and I can tell you we were never so glad to have our feet on solid ground again! So 'bye 'bye Qatar Airways, we don't want to go near another of your flights ever again...

Cost of living in Malaysia is certainly cheaper than Qatar. At least the traffic fines and rents are affordable although it doesn't mean traffic offences can be committed more often than in Qatar! I am not from the IT industry but I think salaries here are higher than in Malaysia. Then again, you'd have to compare the cost of living too. With the IT industry in Bangalore and other cities in India booming right now, I wouldn't be surprised if India too pays top dollars to attract Indians back to the country.

Yes, Malaysia is a lovely country for a honeymoon and is worth considering for retirement.

Hey I'm intersted in buying property there as well... any one has any information on that please pass it on.

Just wanted to know a few more things abt Malaysia- How is the cost of living compared to that of Qatar?

If I were to look for an IT job there would I get paid more than Qatar? More than India?

I went there for my honeymoon and absolutely loved the place. I think some day I want to settle in Malaysia.

Selamat datang ke Doha.. haha.. jgn lagi 2 bulan dah pikir nak balik dah la...

For visitor..anytime is a good time to go.. usually end of the year is not suitable for east side beach/island as the current and weather might be too harsh. Best time.. middle of the year I suppose.. can start from April.. But you can always go anytime.. if the weather is bad at east side.. go to west side..or vice versa..

Don't always go to Langkawi.. boring.. try and see Perhentian Kecil Island for a change.. white sandy beach with not so much development....

Anyway, if you're going to Malaysia using Qatar Airways, feel free to complaint about their old and terrible airplane.. let them change it A.S.A.P!!!

One of my favourite place to go. Until recently they start catering tourists from the middle east. The hotel we used to go in Kuala Lumpur (New World Hotel) took the pork from breakfast table. When my husband ask, they said they concentrate to middle east tourists now.

Been to Tioman, Genting, Cameron Highland, KL (loads of times), Penang Island and Melaka.

Next time we want to go to Langkawi.

Favourite food from Malaysia is Penang Laksa and Nasi Lemak :-) Now i am hungry :-(

probably your kids would prefer Sunway better...

I've never stayed at Mines before, only been there a few times for dinner and meetings. Not a bad place, by a man made lake, water taxis, parks... etc.

The place is called MInes because it is built on a reclaimed land... used to be tin mine. hence the name... :)

Qatar has a pleasant winter. The temperature may drop down 7deg.C at night during the winter but the afternoon balanced out with hot sun makes the afternoon pleasant indeed. But now in May, the temperature is rising. The season is changing again. Winter is out, spring is here. Flowers continue blooming. Tomatoes ripening. 26deg.C in the morning and temperature rises to 42deg.C at noon. Cumulus Nimbus in the sky, occasional thunder storm, humidity rising. It almost reminds you of Malaysia. Until of course the sandstorm hits you. It is windy out there at the moment. Occasionally you can hear the hailing wind. I can hear some of the plastic bottles flying around. I looked outside the window, the sky has lost it blue and it seems that the whole world is changing to orange. Sandstorm is brewing out there. A very common phenomenon in the Middle East. It is called Shamal. Shamal is an Arabic word literally means north. Essentially, the Shamal is an event which occurs as a result of the Arabian Gulf being influenced by a part of the Monsoon circulation where the heat low over Pakistan and Afghanistan forms a secondary low pressure center to the south of the Zagros Mountains in Iran. The different pressures finally create an enhancement of the winds over the Arabian Gulf. They are often driven by fierce northwest wind from Iraq and the Persian gulf. These winds scour the dust and sand off the surface and loft it into the air and carry it wherever it goes. It may set in suddenly at any time, and generally lasts from one to five days, dying down at night and freshening again by day; however, in May to early July it continues almost without cessation. When you are outside walking in the wind, it is hot and dry and rusty. You can't really see the sand. It is very fine. But your lashes, your face and your hands will get dusty. Sometimes it is hard to breathe too. I coughed the first time I walked through it. Unfortunately this might trigger asthma and lung problem if you don't have it already. At certain places, you can't see anything. Like driving through haze. There is also orange tint at certain areas. So dense is the sand. The dust will also creep into your house adding extra household chore. Sandstorm enveloped Qatar last 2nd March 2007. Temperature in Qatar will continue to increase in Summer and can reach up to 50 deg.C.

Nice place not to miss in Sg. Besi. Only 1/2 hour driving from city center KL but subject to traffic condition. Big lake and nice view with some watersport activity available there. One of the big bungalow there belongs to former PM. You can try Golden Horse Palace Hotel, 5/6 stars hotel. Some of big events were held there like conference, exhibition, etc. You can enjoy nice food and people and very good service.
