I am freezing!

I have been told that this cold weather is an unusual phenomenon for this country and that may be true as it seems that Qatar is not ready to confront either cold or rain. All the employees in my company are freezing and our personnel department is not able to find any heaters at the market. I guess the shops have run out of heaters as everybody want to buy (at least) one. Does anyone know any place that we can provide radiators, fan heaters (etc)?

you can always convert Fahrenheit into Celcius:

1. subtract 32

2. divide the rest by 1.8

sample: 49 - 32 = 17

17 : 1.8= 9.44

Good luck!

It looks like it is warming up today....pretty nice outside.

In other news, we got a couple of heaters from Carrefoure a week ago and they have burnt out two wall sockets and a couple of adaptors. The lesson? Be carefull of the voltage/wattage/whatever of these heaters they are bringing in

At 0400 was 49.5 degrees outside.

Wind speed was 5 miles per hour. Wind chill factor was 45 degrees,

Air mixture was Wet and humid, lots of fog. Humidity was 100%.

That is just from the desert fox weather station in Qatar.

Do not invite death by the error of your life, nor bring on destruction by the works of your hands; because God did not make death, and he does not delight in the death of the living.

Qatar has never been warm enough in Winter to live without jumpers and coats.

Maybe you should all buy thermal underwear next time you are on leave.

"common, its not that cold, not even 0 degrees."

The problem is Qatar is not set up for the cold. In England, though we might not regard this as cold, we'd still have the central heating on and warm clothes for going out. Similarly, a heat wave in England can be worse than abroad because we have no air-conditioning.

At 23:00, It was 50 degrees last night in the desert, with a windshield factor of 39 degrees, The wind velocity was 13 knots an hour. I had two layers of clothing and my ears were super cold and hurting. My weather mate station notified of high humidity of 100%. That is freaking cold.

Guys dress warm and don't judge the weather as warm. We are not out of the woods, yet!

Enjoy the weather while it last.

Do not invite death by the error of your life, nor bring on destruction by the works of your hands; because God did not make death, and he does not delight in the death of the living.

I bought a couple of halogen heaters last week down at the souq. Qr250 each but they had a variety of models. So far so good!

Try Souq Al Ahmad on Grand Hamad Street. There is a bed & baths store and a few shops down there is an electrical store, sorry cannot remember the name. They also give a one year warranty.

I left all my warm clothes back in Canada. I arrived to Qatar about 1 month ago, at that time it was still warm. Then very soon I left for Kuwait (as our Head Office is there), the temperature at nights there was dropping down to +2+3!! I had to buy boots and very warm jacket (could never imagine I will ever need boots in Gulf!!) Then I came back to qatar, hoping that at least here will be warmer.. noway.. i am still freezing, can not get warm!! And, as Xena says: "One of my reasons for coming to Qatar was because I don't do cold weather well"..

If, as the met says the chill is to remain till the end of this month then its high time you bought one heater. Check out the MAin agents like DOMASCO, LG, Panasonic etc or even retailers like MP traders

You might have to leave in your car and put the heater inside the car. x

One of my reasons for coming to Qatar was because I don't do cold weather well, and South Africa has very cold winters...

When I got on the plane to Qatar on August 16, it was 9degrees... never in my wildest dreams did I think i would have a use for the jersey and leather jacket I was wearing, nor did I think i would have to waste money on a winter wardrobe when I got here....

Suzanna, sorry, i haven't seen any heaters, but the A/C's usually have a warmer setting....
