Heartless Drivers

IMI
By IMI

Today evening on my way back Home after dinner with my loved one, the evening turned out to be rather horrid, I know many of us may have come across Cats suddenly crossing the road to reach the other side, some often die and some survive for a while until someone else does not go over them. Well i always believe in the saying "Keep your Eyes on the Road" I guess not many in Doha really do that. Well this is what happened. On my way back home, just about 400 meters from reaching the signal i had a Nissan Sunny right in front of me who knocked out a crossing cat cold, well I don't blame the driver, but i always feel accidents can be avoided with rather a little more alertness on the roads. I was behind him, i seen the cat knocked out and rolled under neath his car, and i was able to dodge right away from him in time. I chased the driver of that car and asked him why he did not slow down, and what was the hurry, the response that i got from was " So what" or in other words "who care".I know lots of cats die on Qatar roads daily, i have lost count of how many dead ones i have picked up from the streets. Angry and disturbed i went back for its rescue as i could not bear that cat being pasted on the road. I reach the other side and pleaded the passing by cars to slow down, which most of them did. The cat was conscious, bleeding from his nose, and injured (badly) since i had not much of time to do anything i picked him up and it was jumping or screaming in pain. I was worried if i let him go he would have been killed yet i managed to get a grip of him and in return he scratched and bit the hell out of me. I called Vet who i had visited recently who had an emergency number, but they could not do much as it was late and at the same time they were not willing to do anything. A passerby gentle man who was kind enough to give me assistance kept a watch as i was running back and forth to rescue the cat. I was there with it as much as i could i did not know what i could do more for it. I was willing to take it anywhere, where someone would offer help and do anything to ease its pain. But in vain. Sad and Angry i could not do much, i checked the cat and he had a dislocated rear leg, which was loose out hanging from his skin, it was in pain. I gave it water washed off the blood and the cat some how a strong one, managed to walk away with just 3 legs. I hope and pray that it survives.
I lost sight of it as it made it made its way crying in pain and i stood there helplessly see it go away.

What i want to request everyone is that, its not so hard to be careful and to save a life be it human or an animal. If you had accident don't run away, just because its an animal. Does anyone know of a EMS for Animals in Doha. At that time i just wished if i could put it to sleep.. coz the sight was hurting.

Anyway i came home and hugged my own cats and i pray that this cat survives.. if not dies in peace.

For Humans we have Hospitals & Doctors for our pain & illness, for animals its just God - The Almighty

Sorry for the long post..

A sad story indeed! I used to see dead cats on the streets of Doha and they've been literally flatten, I wonder how many wheels have gone through their bodies. IMI, you did a great job trying to save the cat.

PM... ok, I am sorry... I think it is because this story really upset me.

I am up to help out however I can if anyone can come up with ideas to help out emergency vet services. I think this is something we should take very serious.

IMI, cuteydog... you said it all. They dont care. As long as they have their silly sunglasses and mobile phones and their big cars and dont eat pork...everything else is ok.

heartless people. primitive people. no oil, gas or money can give this country a heart.

GOD will bless you all the happiness of life. You will get the reward.

And Hope others can realize the pain.

Just imagine if someone hit them, like that...??how they forget to save a life...How cruel is the behaviour...?

Hey its really sad, but you did a good job, what you did was the best anyone could do. This world is ruthless, no one cares for Humans and no cares for Animals. I hope your efforts in saving do not go wasted, I pray that the poor animal survives.. Keep it up brother !!
