Hairdressers

Sorry for the girly nature of this question, but I'm desperate. Ladies, can you recommend a decent hairdresser in Doha? I've been here several months and all I've heard are horror stories. Any suggestions would be gratefully received, my hair is getting so long I'm starting to look like 'Cousin It' from the Addams Family.

Hi, just had to write on this thread about hairdressers....I'm new in Doha, just since mid April 2010, and my biggest fear about moving here has been whether or not i could find someone to do my hair properly. I'm british with mid length blonde highlighted hair. Like most ladies, i'm EXTREMELY fussy about my hair and have been terrified about having it done here. I tried a couple of places for consultation but none have given me enough confidence to actually go ahead. BUT, today I tried a lady called Paula at Riviera Gardens (Nr Landmark Mall) who'd been recommended to me. After a lengthy consultation I decided to go ahead and have full head highlights, cut and blow. The colour is perfect, just how i wanted, and the cut is fabulous. Paula really listened to me, and talked to me all the way through about what she was doing and the outcome she was expecting. I came out of the salon feeling great. She's also a really nice lady so the experience was all the better! I'll be going to Paula from now on. If you've been having the same problems as me, give Paula a try :-) I'm sure you won't be dissappointed!

PS, I didn't get paid for this!! Hahaha

I am a new expat in Doha, and I chose the Ritz thinking that it would be a quality place to get my hair done. Despite the high price, they dyed my roots a color that didnt match!! I had to go back to them where they re dyed my hair. This should not happen, they should get it right the first time! Dont waste your money or time, they are not professional. They dont speak good English and the stylists ALWAYS smell like smoke.

I tried the ritz carlton after reading some comments one month ago , and it was verryyy bad !!!

pace n luce team is no more there runing the salon, a new team replaced them.

i went there for hair coloring , light brown but as a result i found myself women in red !!!

i paid 1000 qar for nothing !!!!!

i wasnt satisfied at all!

Now i want to change that red to light brown i guess im gonna try intercontinental hotel or marie claire!!!

I've been four times and it has been ok, but will not go again, as their prices have gone up each time. For highlites, cut and blow dry (med hair lenght) it cost me QR 500 the first time, but at each visit they added another QR100, last time I paid QR 800, and I certainly did not look the part, never again...

Do you really need color now? Hol doff as long as you can, and I would ask for a refund. I think the new consumer law allows for that now.

thanks for the quick response. I am really doubtful to re-do the process. Maybe i have to wait till april to get my hair rebonded in the philippines.

aniwes to compensate the amount that I paid to him, i will just ask him to do hair colour and hot oil and hair cut. hehehe.

Vinaji, call 180 they can give you the numbers....

pau-pau I would never rebond my hair here unless you want to be bald. The only place I would even consider permanent straightening is the Jaques Dessange salon on Salwa. They do the thermal straightening (referred to as Japanese straightening). It is very pricey but worth it in the long run. If you can wait to go back home I would seriously suggest that as the price is half of what it is here and you know your hairdresser home.

i have my rebond a few weeks back, but after i have my hair wet, my wavy hair began to appear. and i hate it. I paid 600 QR. for this.

I complained to the hairdresser and he asked me to drop by the salon and he will re-do the said process.

I am afraid since I know that rebonding should be done 1 or twice a year only.

Can you help please.....is it ok to have it rebonded again or not?

No body knoes the numbers of London salon and Marie Clare? Some of you are very happy with them ,but no contact numbers?

If somebody can make the full list of beauty salons and hair dressers, this will help many visitors and residents.

I hadn't been in months so it needed a lot of work and I am really happy with it. Thank you all for the recommendation!
