The FAA Is Seriously Thinking About Letting You Use Electronic Devices During Takeoff
After announcing it would take a 'fresh look' at the ban of using electronic devices during takeoff and landing, the FAA has just announced that it'll be forming a new committee to study, analyze and reconsider the issue. That means there's a very good possibility that we'll be able to use our electronic devices whenever the hell we want when we're on a plane.
As it should be. Because let's face it, our gadgets aren't about to make an airplane explode. Here's what the FAA will be doing:

@wirehead - that could be the probable cause..i read on one study concluded that mobile phones used in the cabin could exceed the aircraft manufacturer's rated allowable emission levels for some avionics. On the other hand, causal relationships between device use and these failures have not been established statistically. All reported incidents to date have been difficult to reproduce in tests.
By the way, the place where the government official died because of a plane crashed was in my home town..which is like the airport and the beach was like 5 minutes away from my home..

btw, in the recent accident involving a high government official's plane crash that shisha was referring to earlier, the bodyguard (who was the sole survivor) was texting in that private plane all the time. the guy who died was also calling his wife. perhaps that's why the pilot missed the runway for their emergency landing? did their phone use cause trouble for their navigation equipment?

@wirehead - really? i'm surprise with that coz i thought the pilot can detect which rows or seat with phones still on..but that's cool :)
i actually forgot to turn off one of my phones on my flight back to doha from manila last tuesday. i just realized that after we landed and was about to turn it on. it was on the whole time.
apart from the food tasting a bit worse than usual, i didn't really feel anything different during the flight.

@ choithram12 - apologies accepted. i would like to say this once that most of the people i interacted here in QL are my REAL FRIENDS outside the virtual world of QL..we known each other personally..i met their families, met their wife, sons, daughters, bf/gf, brothers, sisters, so on..
these people will not make a joke if they know that i will not take it a humorous way..as the old QLERS advice me before, take QL with a pinch of salt..so i am passing this on to you..

Excuse me for my predicament, I may have not seen the initial humor on the way the conversation goes, but i've seen enough Philippino ladies not being taken seriously and sadly even by their own countrymen, I was just appalled by what I saw as sarcasm and belittling thrown to strawberry shisha, apologies for what I saw as a misrepresentation of SS in how the exchanges went by...
I guess I was indeed on the wrong side by blurting out such comments...I just mean well

10:45 - At the Boarding Gate, so excited
11:00 - In the bus on the way to the plane, OMG! This is a HUGE plane, must be a B777
11:30 - Saying my prayers, we're about to push back
11:40 - Sige, Sige, time to turn-off my BB, will update y'all when I touchdown in Manilla

SS...I cant fathhom what else could those updates be...hope it is not about that I am safe at 10:10:01 Hrs then at 10:10:02Hrs then at 10:10:03 Hrs....:) but guess that is what is addiction heard of fb and bb addicts. No issues unless I am at risk cos of someone elses addiction...:)
lol i agree with u britey..but for an fb and bb addictus like me i can't wait to use my phone..i know it sounds odd to some but hell that's me (and i know some can relate whether they admit it to themselves or not)

lol...it sounds so funny,atleast to me...status update on fb, bb etc in the plane, updating what?..Went to toilet, ate food, scratched my back or elsewhere, etc., uploading photos of the toilet, seat, man in the enxt seat, crew, inside of the plane itself, what?? As for information reg. arriving safe...how can it be conveyed to be so unless one gets down the plane and in the terminal building(the bus driving us to the terminal building can also collide on the way)...basically saying, some people just stretch things rather too far, unnecessarily.
I'm sure waiting an extra 35 seconds whilst the plane taxis and comes to a halt is not going to matter here or there..
britey, yes i can do that but informing them that u arrived in one piece is much better right?till now the plane crashed accident happened in my home town in Phils is still in my mind..*shivers*

TCOM, sending u strawberry flavoured hugs for this awesome news..lol..so it seems that i will not wait for eternity till i get my a** out of the plane before i can open my beloved BB (kissing my phone mode*) to call my family back home or post some statuses on fb and bb and whatsapp that arrived safe and sound and in one piece :D
OK.. I hate to be a party pooper, but am I the only one who gets irked with people using their phones on the planes till the last moment (giving all around them an insight into their private business) or opening their laptops as soon as they board..
