I am from Pakistan and working in Doha with valid RP. I want to get married in Qatar with my Fiancée who is an Iranian. My question is if my fiancée comes to Qatar on a visit visa, can we get married in Qatar. If so what is the procedure and what are the documents required? Please help out…..

Ram, so far as I'm aware, under Shariah law generally, a muslim man may marry a non-muslim woman; however, she must be a 'woman of the book', i.e. Christian or Jewish, a woman believer of the books preceding the Qu'ran. [I'm not sure whether Qatar would have a different legal position prohibiting this though.]

I don't know what the position is regarding a muslim man marrying a woman of any faith other than Islam, Judaism or Christianity. I'm not sure if that's permitted in Qatar as I understand that it's not permissible under Shariah law (or at least that's my understanding of the situation).

And as to not speaking Arabic, surely she would be given a translation beforehand and told what the words meant, and also given advice as to pronunciation?

Hi!

I have checked with the department myself and it can happen. Just need two witnesses each for bride and groom, passport copies of both and either consent letter from parents or their presence.Timings are from 6 to 8 in the evening.
