Dubai Municipality halts sale of Vimto

DUBAI - The Dubai Municipality has halted the sale of Vimto drink till the company discovers the reason for the growth of mold in its bottles and takes corrective action.
The civic body’s Food Control Department, which had seized thousands of contaminated bottles of the popular fruit drink and recalled its recent batches of 250ml bottles from the shelves, has also barred the entry of a new consignment into the local market, an official said.
Shaima Al Tenaiji, the deputy head for Food Studies and Planning Section, said the Dubai-based supplier of the drink, Aujan Industries, has been asked to get in touch with the Saudi Arabia-based manufacturer and to submit a detailed report on the cause of the development of mold and the corrective actions taken.
“We can’t allow them to sell the drink without taking corrective actions. It is not because the drink has been found to be harmful, but we want to take all precautions,” Al Tenaiji told Khaleej Times.
She said food inspectors had already sealed the latest shipment of the drink that has reached Dubai and asked the supplier not to sell it in the market. “We had already taken off the shelves the bottles with November and December production dates. The new shipment that has come has been sealed and kept aside in the warehouse. We have a system to track if any of these is sold in the market.” Following the discovery of high levels of fungi in the drink in different emirates, the department had seized 3,675 bottles of the contaminated drink from Dubai and recalled all Vimto 250ml bottles as a precautionary measure to protect public health.

I like vimto, lets hope they get it sorted out soon.
boycott COLA and PEPSI Also
that's one of my daughter's fav drinks though thankfully I have only let her have one like once a month. Think I'll take a cue from Ms Shaima Al Tenaiji and keep her away from them now. They are way too dye infested sugar bombs anyways so Insha Allah she'll not lose anything by NOT drinking them!
omg!! i had vimto in can last night
