Down on your luck but upbeat?
Hey QLers :)
I'm a journo from the U.S. who moved to Qatar last month after getting married. I'm starting to freelance for New Era magazine, a monthly that's distributed with the Peninsula newspaper.
For my first story, I'm looking to interview someone down on their luck and is willing to share how they're getting through it. For example, I once interviewed a high school student whose life perspective changed after he barely survived a car crash.
Also, my husband (also a journo) is looking to talk to the Filipina maid and the Qatari family who paid for her wedding. Anybody know how to get ahold of them?
We are also open to any human interest story ideas or recent happenings in Doha. Since most of y'all have been here longer than me, I thought you'd be the perfect people to ask. Oh, and I already tried to pitch the labor inequality here but the editor said he wants more positive pieces. :)
Thanks in advance!!
Labour inequality is a serious problem out here.
Get your facts right bixcx . I never said I am the highest paid expat here. I said I am the highest paid Mason here. I am an Idiot or not It is up to my management to decide. not you morons can decide anything exept hiding behind the box and bitxxing about this and that.Who said it took 20 years to get a good job. I started climbing the ladder from 1985. I came here after spending 15 years in the Far East and Asia Pacific. you morxns only can dream about it. go and fly kites.
perhaps just send me a private message if any of you can help? thanks :)
yes sure you will get a very intersting story of an idiot turned Manager through shortcut and he belives that he is the hightest paid expat in Qatar. You can write good story on the height of stupidity of a man who finished school in 12 yrs and graduated in 15 yrs. But....it took 20 yrs for him to get a god job because of his luck..lol
Interview me you will get tons of things to write about.
well, i think he's being strategic. indirect criticism about this place is perfectly acceptable :)
