Do you own a pet?

what do you prefer Dogs or cats?

I am not so fond of animals inside my house but my son is crazy about pets.. I have a parrot, Dog (fostering) an aquarium full of fishes.

I like cats, but Dogs..I don’t like them licking me or coming near me. But most people I know love Dogs.

Why do some people like Dogs and others like cats?

What germs? He's gotten more germs from nursery than he has from the cats....don't think he's gotten anything form the cats!

And his pediatrician told us that being around animals at his age will greatly reduce his chances of being allergic to cats.

What about germs from the kitties. Is it safe for the little one ?

I love all animals, but dog is the most favorite because of its affectionate toward people especially towards family member. It can be trained and do tricks. I love cats too but they often don't have these characters.

Two of them go near the baby, but they don't bite or scratch him. Rather they're very protective of him and lick his hands and let him pull on their fur. One actually gets very very upset when he cries and cries too.

The other 3 ignore him and stay as far away as possible.

So most of you all prefer Dogs..and 2nd is cat..I agree they are both very cute and loving.

The small dog which I have at home is so intelligent..even though it came to our house recently....its behaving as if it was there for ever..:)

I think I started liking him now..:) He is not messing the house...he is nice with my parrot....he wont lick me..he just sit near my feet….he is very playful with my son above all my hubby also likes him now..:)

Miss Mimi….wont these 5 cats go near your baby? Is it safe?

But hubby don't like cats...being allergic to the fur and hate the smell.

Dogs do need attention and care...and with my busy work schedule, and just got married recently, it'll be a tough juggling act.

Maybe after relocating, I may be able to get a cat or a small dog :)

I have Nat as my closest living relative at Doha. He is the cutest little buddy I have known in a long time. It's a full time job looking after him. I also had a Cat and a Rabbit. Sadly, both of them passed away recently.

Iám contemplating getting a companion for Nat

I have two cats back home in California. I miss them dearly but to bring them here with me to Qatar would have been brutal.

I am debating getting either a cat or a dog but not sure how I'd get started. Is there an animal shelter here where one can adopt a rescue? Are there shops or places to purchase pet food and supplies?

Any advise or tips is much appreciated.

Honestly don't like to either, but that's due to my own weaknesses and fears. I find both cats and dogs incredibly cute though! Given choice though I'd only agree to having an aquarium of fish..provided hubby or kiddo do the cleaning!

I love my kitty... she is adorable.. she meets me when I come home, she look at me sad when I leave. She never makes a noise while I sleep. She likes to cuddle with me, and she licks. She is very smart and understanding cat. She feels happy when I am happy and she is upset when I am upset..

We used to own a little puppy, (couldn't stand him for more than 2 weeks, and he went to our friends, was barking like an idiot days and nights, was naughty, messy, noisy...was very cute and playful though).. Used to have 2 cats, different types of birds, all kinds of fishes.. Almost got a monkey.. but then I said: I have enough monkeys in my house, so either me or a monkey.. so eventually we settled for 1 cat .. and I love her..

Just got a call from Xena. Rizks turned up at QAWS , wanting to adopt a dog.

Xena: “Why don't you get a nice Labrador"

Rizks: “You must be joking. Do you know how many of their owners go blind?"

Rizks was walking to the post office when britexpat came up to him and said "Hello Rizks, How’s your dog? I saw him yesterday chasing an old man on a bike."

"Oh" said Rizks "That could NOT have been my dog"

"Oh, why not?" replied britexpat "I’m pretty sure it was your dog"

"Well" stated Rizks smiling "my dog doesn’t ride a bike"

Well I have 5 cats, but not because I don't love dogs, but rather I think they fit my life style a bit better. Cats are a lot easier to care for.

I'd love a dog, especially now that Hubby and I are home so much, but I we don't have the yard or the space at the moment!
