Sharjah: Gold fever can even turn daughters against mothers it appears, as in the case of an unusual multi-million dirham gold heist in Sharjah.
When a mother left her daughter waiting in a taxi cab holding Dh3 million worth of gold jewellery and the daughter disappeared, the mother’s thoughts first turned to the horrific scenario that her 20-year-old daughter had been kidnapped.
But Sharjah Police contend that something much more sinister was at hand with a daughter who had secretly plotted to liberate the fortune in gold in order to finance a new life abroad with her boyfriend.
Sharjah Police have confirmed that they arrested N.K.D., a 20-year-old Indian woman, who is alleged to have stolen 20 kilograms of gold jewellery from her mother who was finalising documents to take her gold back to her country at the Sharjah Customs Department in the Free Zone of Sharjah Airport.
The police were first notified when they received a call from N.K.D.’s mother who claimed that her daughter had gone missing after she had left her waiting with her jewellery in a taxi outside the free zone building.
Police said, however, that N.K.D. was not kidnapped.
Instead, the daughter had switched off her phone and had taken her mother’s gold to her boyfriend M.A.M., a Pakistani, who had conspired with her to quietly slip out of the country. The boyfriend, police said, was planning to follow his girlfriend after securing a way to transport the jewellery outside the country. The couple was planning to sell the stolen gold and start a new life together with the money after leaving the UAE.
Sharjah Police , within hours arrested the 20-year-old while she was trying to escape through one of the country’s airports.
The couple was taken into custody and have been referred to the public prosecutor in Sharjah.

What difference does it make?... the gold was for her... so she took it...lol

Land and Gold are not supposed to be sold... only accumulated... but some people never understand that...

When a love struck innocent and nothing much to do indian girl wth rich parents meets a nothing much to do Pakistani guy with get rich quick ideas on his mind then such things are bound to happen. ..Just wondering..Had they succeeded and ran away what would have been the climax of this story when the money and gold was all finished.
