Danger at Orbital Road

Mesaied to Al Khor, an orbital road is being constructed, which is going to be a landmark road project, with several lanes uninterrupted motoring.

However, this is set to offer the youngsters an opportunity to drive high speed unchecked driving. A section of this road has already been started.

Before this road opens up for public, in full, there is a real need to import and get ready the "Speed Radars" to rein in the high speed dangers, that are looming on this motorway. Moreover mobile radars shall be essential to put a control on the high speed accidents on this road.

The right radars are the smart ones, the ones that calculate your speed over the length of the highway. not only radars where people will just slow down in front of the radar once they see it.

Correct,..... Agree with Equi's observation..... Use of mirrors every 10 seconds, look back before you change lanes would save 99% of the accidents ......................

Mufti: This is not fair to those of us who spend money customising and uprating our vehicles - i've just fitted a blower to my Pink Kia and rumours are that Mohdata is fitting twin turbos and nitrous to his Camry

Agreed with MS, because the number 1 killer on roads is "High Speed" and it needs forceful control.

Cars in Qatar should have a maximum speed limit of 110 Km/hr.

Do not put cameras on the orbital road, and you would quickly see, zooming pass the cars over 150/kph, against a maximum safe speed limit of 120/kph on such a road.

We often come across with the following well displayed maxims at mega project sites:

a. Safety First

b. Then Work

Mature people like MM would drive with care even while speeding, yet the new lot (below 25 years of age) would like to enjoy the speed thrill, thereby putting themselves as well as others at high risk.

Traffic dept need to trust the drivers ..... not go after them, not put cameras here n there & make them nervous ......... ........ this will reduce the efficiency of the workers who are being watched .......... .........

As MM says, we need to get places in a hurry and speed cameras just spoil the fun ...

Do away with them now I say!!

Equi, But sometimes you are in a hurry for an urgent task then you are expected to reach on time at different places ....... then there may come a point where you need to drive in a smooth speed ...... .......... .
