'Corpse' wakes up in morgue
Attendants fled a morgue fearing they'd seen a ghost after a man thought to have died woke up screaming.
=============================================================
A 50-year-old South African man thought to be dead woke up in a chilly morgue on Sunday and shouted to be let out, scaring off two attendants who thought he was a ghost, local media reported.
"His family thought he had died," health spokesman Sizwe Kupelo told the Sapa news agency.
"The family called a private undertaker who took what they thought was a dead body to the morgue, but the man woke up inside the morgue on Sunday at 5:00 pm and screamed, demanding to be taken out of the cold place."
This caused two mortuary attendants on duty to flee the building in the small town of Libode in the rural Eastern Cape as they thought it was a ghost.
After calling for help and returning to find the man alive, an ambulance was sent to fetch the man who had "been exposed to extreme cold for nearly 24 hours" said Kupelo.
He said the public should not assume that a sick person had died and contact a mortuary, the report said.
"Doctors, emergency workers and the police are the only people who have a right to examine the patients and determine if they are dead or not."

maybe something else..lol
i think he's a vampire on hibernate.....so funny...
maybe it happens in other parts of the world..
I see a lot of this in the movies too :-P
Happened in ancient timea also... He is still lucky.. They did put him in grave... :(
When I a nurse in a nursing home (uk) I sat with a patient until she died, she was certified dead by the duty doctor. The undertakers weren't able to come for a few hours, but when they did,the body was still warm. As they began to move her,a very weak pulse returned and she slowly regained conciousness.....that was VERY spooky! She lived for 2 more days!
lo...really? hmm..next time dear..lemme taste sushi.. ;)
SS - Ohh i love sushi so much, good thing is i guess they're not having puffer fish here, they dont even use japanese rice here for sushi..LOL.
gore tfs...
harhar..good thing i don't like sushi and any raw stuffs..i think in some countries they do it to poison someone..
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tetraodontidaeyip my comments were correct :)
SS, i think it is the way its been prepared that can be dangerous. Not sure the exact details but in China or Japan, certain puffer fish is actually a delicacy in sushi bars. But some species are deadly. So yes you would "look" dead if you ate it in moderation, but if you ate alot you would certainly be "really" dead. :)
gore, i've heard about that "puffer fish" thing...what if u eat puffer fish without your knowing..you'll be "dead" even if you're not..lol
yes pls. Nanny thts my order please do the needful. i will give a nice tip too
why you ask pappu, you need a diaper change?
gore1876 r u a Nanny by profession
In SA we have alot of traditional healers that sometimes concoct some strange medicines, maybe this old man took something that put him too sleep so deeply that it looked like he was dead. Similar to the effects of a certain puffer fish i believe, that slows your heart rate down so much even a trained proffesional will think you are dead. But i agree a medical proffesional should have atleast checked this guy out.
hell yeah..when my father died my mom did not let the mortician touch his body..she's really hoping he'll resuscitate...
thanks pappu, maybe you can come over one time and i can read you a bed time story whilst i pat your stomach and feed you a bottle.
SS - it's obvious they want to get rid of this person, they should have called a medic to at least hope he'll be saved.. Sad thing..
gore1876 i didnt knew u would be looser. nice stories u tell like Cinderella
fathimah, spot on..it's really strange..in Phils usually we gave 24 hours maximum allowance before a mortician touch the cadaver..
Pappu,...I must appreciate you for chosing such hillarious IDs...i bet no one underatands as we do, sad they all are frequently affected with chicken-guinea & dengue and get deceased :) :)

I haven't seen a ghost all my life and i respect others belief and i never think they're funny..
LP, you dumb one eyed fool, read it once again. Its in South Africa!!!
Brit - Exactly, they didnt even hope that he might be saved if they asked for a medical help instead of contacting a morgue..:)
gore1876 so superstitious. lols
What's worrying is that the family "assumed" that he was dead and called an undertaker rather than a medic.
To make matters worse, the undertaker took the body without confirming death with a medic :O(
Pappu, there are many countries all over the world that believe in Ghosts, sorry to burst your bubble.
in South Africa people believe in ghost. thts really funny
ps..yeah right..maybe there expecting a huge amount of heir...lolz
Ohhh..the family seem very eager to take him to morgue..:)
hgl..that's scary..seems like a ghost story...creepy...
a very funny yet scary experience...
TFS...
On the same note, read this news while reading online edition of one of my city local newspaper ....a dog while crossing the road was hit by a rickshaw...his left rear leg seemed to be broken as it was seen limping after the incident and also seemed to be in some sort of pain as the reporter could make out from its facial expressions...however, before the medical help arrived the said dog and the rickshaw driver both vanished from the site. Police is on the lookout for both. News will be updated as the story unfolds.
