Carrefour voes finally answered?
Our friends from the "parallel" site http://www.qatardeals.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=25 finally decided to something about Carrefour. Although I am sceptical about their abilities, but chronic lack of almost everything and total inconsistency of this store drives me nuts. Especially compared to the Carrefours of Abu Dhabi and Dubai (and they all belong to the same Al Futtaim group). We have tried to do some organized action for a long time, first regarding transit, then something else. Now someone else took the lead, the only thing we have to do is to go and complain. I am sure everyone has more than couple of words to say about this store!
Not trying to promote their site again but it seems that drafted a letter. THey are asking for input before they submit it

Suhail, it's not about price, who cares about price, it is about selection and quality.
How can you say its a souq. The advantage of souq is that you could do a hard bargain whereas here its nothing.
Sorry Terramax - I haven't yet had the (dubious it seems) pleasure of visting your Carrafour yet. I have only had experience of them in Riyadh where they were really humungus superstores. I can only suggest that some goods coming into the stores are being repriced immediately while others for some reason aren't
Beats me.
DavidB,
It still doesn't explain why SAME things cost 30-40 less in SAME Carrefours, belonging to the SAME Al Futtaim Group in UAE. And it doesn't explain, why THEIR (UAE) Carrefours are normal supermarkets, whil ours (Qatar) are branches of a local souk.
Suhail, wake up and smell the roses. Promote for what? What value a site has in this part of the world, where 90% of businesses don't even have internet connections?
Speaking for myself I expect them to really take this matter to Carrefour management and do something about it, as at the moment it is a souk, not a supermarket.
i think some are trying to promote qatardeals.com website.thats all there is to it.
Its a good initiative, I went to qatardeals.com and posted my comments. I went yesterday to Carrefour and couldnt find the products I was looking for :)
Plunging US Dollar is why.
All GCC currencies for some reason (I think it has to do with keeping the yanks happy about Oil prices) are fixed to the not so mighty Greenback.
Carrefour and probably most other chains import most of their goodies from Europe (Inc UK) and Non USD countries.
Dollar goes down 15%, prices go up 20% (what!!!)
If it makes you feel any better - It's happening all over the GCC.
Guys, you've missed the point. Discussing Carrefour here won't take us nowhere, it will be one more escape valve for pressure. Do it at http://www.qatardeals.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=25 and they will take it to the Carrefour management.
Your story about not being able to try on a bra reminded me of the Centre. I wanted to buy a set of darts and they woulnd't let me try them first. They insisted I had to buy them before I could try them
Butterfly, if i was the manager at carrefour, i would definetly let you try the bra.
I always tell the truth, even when I lie
i still prefer going there for big shopping. Their prices alot cheaper than places like Megamart or Qmart.
One of the reasons for the goods getting sold out fast is due to the fact that Carrefour sells these goods below the dealer price. Hence a lot of grocery shop owners buy them in bulk.
I agree that their customer service is far better than any other store in Doha.
I never had any complaints about carrefour, its customer service far better than any other store in Doha.
Only problem I had... the other day I wanted to buy a bra and they would not allow me to try it on, company policy...why would you buy a bra if you can't try it on ??????... I mean, its one of those things that needs to fit perfectly and you MUST try before purchasing...oh well, didn't buy it and wondered if they ever sold any lingerie.
Also, what's going on with their prices??????? They keep going up and up, but that's everywhere else in Doha, so...
