One of the two parcel bombs intercepted last week after being sent from Yemen was defused 17 minutes before it was due to explode, France's Interior Minister Brice Hortefeux has said.

The initial screening of the packages were found negative for the presence of explosives. However, it was well intercepted by the intelligence officials. Meanwhile, more than two dozens of packages are still sought from Yemen. It has been confirmed that these packages and devices used for detonation have resemblance with the materials utilized for the failed "underwear bomb" Christmas day attack. I am sure the security checks for cargo will tighten up around the world from now on

is normally only done at the airport where it originates. It would seem in these times that every country handling should at least do random checks, if not check every item. Granted it means costs would go up but if that is what it takes to make sure we all arrive at our destinations in one piece, I would pay the price.

Little wonder it hasn't been printed here. At least this means they will step up their security before the Holiday season.

One of the two bombs posted from Yemen last week was transported on two passenger planes before being seized in Dubai, Qatar Airways says.

The device was carried on a Qatar Airbus A320 from the Yemeni capital, Sanaa, to Doha, the company confirmed.

There it was transferred onto another Qatar Airways plane to Dubai, where it was seized by police.

The bomb used PETN explosive, which is difficult to detect using normal airport security screening.

A second device was found at East Midlands Airport in the UK.

Until now it had been thought that both devices were transported using cargo planes.

the "misguided" ones. Differentiate your religion for the positive things it stands for and stop making excuses for those who abuse your religion with their terrorist intent. The reality is that the Western media does point out that these terrorists are Muslim because they SAY they are waging jihad in the name of their religion. Get them to stop pretending like Islam justifies their actions and admit they are just fighting political wars, and I think a lot of people will start seeing muslims in a different light. As it stands now, it seems like most Muslims will never speak out very loudly or vehemently against their "muslim brother" and that doesn't make a lot of non-Muslims feel very secure in the belief that you have good intentions.

very few Muslims will support these miss guided Muslims, but most of the Muslim pissed up when the terrorism is purely labeled by western media with Islam and Muslims, and project them as a nation of terrorist.

Sorry to say it but Muslims really do need to stand up and scream out against this kind of shyte. We need more like FatimaH who don't make excuses for the actions of these Godless devils.

Ya, they can send bombs to Temples in other countries, but have neither the guts nor the know how to go right to the source....COWARDS.

Security officials received a tip from an unnamed ally that packages coming from Yemen were destined for synagogues in Chicago and Illinois. Probably they are trying with the Cargo system initially to see whether the bomb can make it through the security checks and plan accordingly. Assuming this story gets corroborated, it may have a set back on the international trade.

The information regarding these packages were given by Saudi Authorities and thus US already said thanks to Saudi authorities who helped them to spot all these things timely.

A similar package was traced in Dubai and both packages are now undergoing forensic analysis. Pentaerythritol trinitrate is quite powerful and the repercussions could have been devastating.
