when ladies used to travel from England to India at the time of the British Empire, I guess, they would book their tickets on the boat to ensure that they travelled out on the Port side of the boat, to avoid the sun, and their return on the Starboard side for the same reason.

Thus the expression POSH (Port Out, Starboard Home).

They would have been ladies with money and so I guess that's how our nowadays interpretation comes about.   Posh.

Well I don't want to dampen your thoughts about these 'ere parts, but my sister was here for 2 weeks recently, and we never STOPPED, went everywhere, but to be honest by the time she left I realised I'd used up all the options I was saving up to do over the next 2 years!

However, if you have friends around then that makes up for everything which may be otherwise lacking and I never went out much in the UK anyway!   I go out more here, than I did there, thanks to people I've met through QL.

I have no worries about meeting people from here, in fact, one of my biggest issues now is that I may not get a 4x4 off the company.

I want one so I can go to any meet and greet events that may involve going out to the desert etc.

I take people as they are and try not to make unfair assumpions based upon some cyber chat.

so far i have pleasure to met Darude, khanan,novita, karin, king edshel, owen, spirit2006, Qatarisun, ahmed, skdkk, speed, mohammad, irfan, moty which i dont know his name in QL and some other blokes that i dont remember the names. and so far its been great and fun and they all very nice people. nobody want to bite me or kill me yet!!! i am blessed.

I just finished reading all this thread and was actually laughing out loud...because I know most of you already and your personalities, both on and off QL.

Ok...about Frog...he's right..totally different off QL...quite shy but makes you laugh with what he comes up with.

I've met just about everyone that regularly posts on here, but there are some that I have missed meeting for whatever reason. Also I  would like to meet a few that choose to remain anonymous..actually I've probably already met you in person but we just didn't know each other had an alter ego on here. 

I would like to also meet some that I have had conflicts with on QL, as I think in person that it would be different. There's a lot that goes on in one's mind that never quite makes it on forum...and that shows up in person...and for the most part everyone gets along in person other than on here...

So..that being said..get out and meet everyone...

To be honest , the last time you were talking about your house maid , you were describing your house room by room. It was surprising to me a little bit. I join those who may tell you to be more careful.  I may differ with your opinions sometimes, but I would never accept that anyone from QL or elsewhere would be harassed . May God protect you and your family.

I am looking foward to meeting PBH (if he eventually gets to Doha this year, as he hopes to) and would like to meet adey.   I enjoy both of their posts and humour on QL.    Oh and dweller, of course.

I've met quite a few QLers through the Social Club but there are so many I'd be interested to chat with in person that it's difficult to list them all!

Froggie and Hashin would, I'm sure, be good fun :D

I shan't mention any QL ladies in case I offend anyone by NOT mentioning them!  And, anyway, I've met quite a lot of the gals.

Although DG springs immediately to mind as one I haven't met - again because she never fails to make me laugh (sometimes out aloud!) with some of her posts.

Hiding ? I'm not afraid of anyone , but I'm sure some would not appreciate me being around. So, I prefer to remain "virtual" .

I would love to meet others, but sometimes I honestly prefer to stay home safe :) Some would not appreciate my presence :) and this could spoil any gatherings.

I think I'd like to meet all of the "regular" QL posters, as even though I disagree with what some of them have to say and lots of them do my head in with their constant arguments and petty bickering, I expect that in real life they are actually interesting and nice people. It's hard to judge someone purely on what they write on QL.

I will single out the obvious one and say that I'd like to meet Qatari, as I think I recently sussed out who they are and they seem like a very interesting person.

Oh yes, and I'm really looking forward to this Saturday's sponsored dog walk as there appears to be a lot of QL members who I respect going. It will be the first time I'll have met someone from QL who I didn't know previously!

I like the writing styles of many QLers. I am lucky to have met some Jauntie, Scarlett, Owen to name a few but would love to meet many. My list is long.

But at is nonsense with correct spelling and proper use of grammar and syntax.

I might disagree with the final argument, but I admire the strength of the reasoning.

 no one talks to them all day or listen to what they to say or even no one is interested in them and they come blast their anger here on QL. :D
