Guns.. like country made revolvers and rifles are ok for personal use but automatic and semiautomatic and long range sniper weapons are military grade weapons and these have to be banned to be sold to normal folks.
That is the first part. But as far as the school shootings are concerned there must have been something else involved.... Gun is not the problem... the problem lies elsewhere... most probably the medications... or some kind of mental pressure... that is the main problem... if that cannot be addressed the problem will not be solved.
A guy with a knife can walk into a kindergarten and kill 20 kids...
The second part is how can a country sell guns covertly and openly to other Countries and to factions fighting against their Government talk about "gun control" inside its boundaries.
Statistically speaking, the US is a fare safer country in terms of contact crimes than most other large Western nations, including the UK.
The difference is guns. In the UK, someone in the heat of an argument might hit or knife someone--both largely survivable events. In the US, guns are involved, which lead to fatalities.
The vast majority of gun-related deaths are either accidents are the result of family or close friends getting into arguments. By the same token, random acts of aggression, road rage, etc. are much lower in the US largely because the threat of guns tends to keep people polite when dealing with strangers.
These mass killings are a peculiar American phenomen. Some counties have as high gun ownership as america but do not have these mass killings on a regular basis. So you have to ask yourself why do the Americans do this? It is very odd.
Having less guns available would be a start but to remove them from society would probably take a generation now
Surprisingly, gun crime in the USA is only marginally higher than it is in the Philippines. That statistic really surprised me.
it is a vicious cycle
Gun control is impossible. One interesting statistic to support Fubar's comment. Gun sales actually went up after the cinema massacre..
A lot of Americans think that the way to prevent more gun crime is to make guns more accessible and encourage more people to carry them.
The phoney logic is that if someone else has a gun, they can shot dead other gunmen. Crazy.
America has more killing than Baghdad these days.
Hmmmm I don't know, maybe because US Attorney General said it is a hate crime and I can be pretty sure that he has more details available with him than me or you.
I think there needs to be better gun control in the US. Such crimes are far less in Canada because they have better gun control.
Did the shooter accept that he hated his victims ?
How did you / anyone come to this conclusion ?
latest source quoted he was suffering from mental breakdown :o(
That shooting was a hate crime against another religion and the shooter got the ammunition perfectly legally thanks to the second amendment.
thats wat i said they shoot as they like its norm , if they get bored they just travel a bit far like iraq and afghan then practice their skills on innocent thats all
Did anyone here read about the shooting at a Sikh temple in Oak Creek, US recently?
they just like shooting everywhere
The issue of gun control can never be resolved mainly due to the second amendment (right to bear arms) and the power of the NRA.
