The Amazing Growth of Doha's West Bay area

Doha has changed a lot in the past few decades.

How many of you are old enough, or have been here long enough, to witness all this change?

Even though all these high rise buildings in West Bay are so normal for all of us today, these pics really show the scale and pace of change.

This is how Doha in Qatar looked like at the late 1970's and early 1980's

This is a very recent pic of West Bay area from the sky:

And there, barely noticeable, is the triangular-shaped Sheraton Hotel (which is currently closed for renovations:
