Hello everyone,
I am opening a new topic on this forum and seek your kind opinions and guidance. I am invited for 2 days onsite interviews with technical and HR teams for Grade-16 job in project management within QP. The base salary range offered is QR22000 - QR27000 per month along with allowances for indefinite contract. Is it formal or detailed, what about medical exam and HR interviews. If someone has attended technical interview, please share your experiences. This basic salary is less than what I am making now in US, is QP flexible to negotiate the basic salary and other allowance (e.g. housing, transportation etc.). I heared that cost of living is high and getting higher in Qatar, will QR15000 be enough for 4 bedroom villa. Can I buy a house if job is offered and I accept it. I have 2 school going kids, will getting them in american/canadian school be hard or easy.

i would suggest to think a million times before considering the offer. Although qp is a good company but if the offer is lower than your salary now in US and it is stable. Why do you need to come here? and I agree with Suhail, the career growth in here is not the same to other country.

Unless the money is really great and badly needed, I don't recommend leaving a stable job in oil and Gas in North America to come here.

Also, please note that there is no career growth what so ever,.. what you get in the beginning is what you will be stuck with for a long time,... maybe you will get a promotion in 3-5 years, if you are lucky. As an expats you have a ceiling that you can't exceed.

of course double standard policies are prevalent here.

if you have stable job their in US its better to stay, there's no place like home.

Try if you can able to negotiate the salary., I believe they have percentage amount for education assistance for your kids. 15k QR is enough for a good villa.

Salary is negotiable within the confines of their salary scale but benefits are absolutely not - they are non negotiable

All Canadian Passport Holder (under QP) must be going also to the Canadian community school, which is located in west bay area, since gasoline is cheap, around $0.27 per Liter, there are several option of villa within 6 or 7 km from the school, markhiya plaza with 4 rooms, is QAR 10,000 a month is one example, if You prefer the west bay area, then the rent will be more than 16,000 a month. there are plenty of option for QAR 14,500 - QAR 16,000 for four room-apartment, but definitely is not recommended, since there is no single playground for the kids (basketball field, tennis, bicycle track, jogging track, place for chasing or running around) , and no parking area for guest, entering canadian school is easy, one-two day process after the simple test for the kid (since QP is prominent company in Qatar, the letter from QP to the school is having good bargaining power, enough to enter the school), part of the school tuition will be bare by QP, the balance is bare by You.
