183 fights a year
Is the average amount of times that a teenage girl fights with her mother:
The girls also slam 164 doors, have 257 fights with siblings, and fall out with their friends 127 times despite spending spend 274 hours on the phone to them, it is claimed.
A quarter of women who were questioned admit that their "testing teens" had been full of anxiety and regrettably hard on the whole family.
Rows over bedroom tidiness, answering back and dating boys were among the most common causes of arguments between mother and daughter.
It is only when a woman reaches the age of 23 that she finally starts to appreciate everything their mother did for her, the study by Lil-Lets found.
Despite not always seeing eye-to-eye with their mother, four in ten, 40 per cent say the heart-to-hearts they had proved "crucial" in getting through the difficult decade.
Three quarters of the women said that they felt grateful to their mother for the way they were raised, even if they failed to realise it at the time.
And 67 per cent say they made them the person they are today and they owe her a "debt of gratitude" for guiding them tough times.
When it comes to the perfect mother-daughter relationship, a 25 year age gap was deemed ideal, the study of 2,000 women found.
Only one in five, 22 per cent, believes they should be best friends with their parent and tell each other everything.
Instead, three quarters feel the relationship is best if there is a close bond but some things remain private.
For many, periods, sex and contraception are the subjects that fall firmly into the "private" category.
A third of women said they would struggle to talk about their "time of the month" and almost two thirds shy away from the idea of talking about sex, the pill, and condoms.
