Our job begins NOW.....

I am sitting and weeping after watching the bid winning scene. Each of us should be thinking now onwards "What can I do to help?"

Let us start it from our homes. More discipline at home means more discipline on roads, offices, and malls.

I am starting...What about you?

My husband is flying to Doha from France.Managed to catch him with an sms "Qatar wins the bid" while connecting flights.Staying awake for his arrival in this land where it is so good to live.Peaceful.Laid back yet self assured.
Jai India..!
Jai Qatar..!

I am a Tunisian and a New Zealander, and I can assure the Qataris that both Tunisians and New Zealanders are very happy with you getting the right to host the biggest event on earth. I have no doubt you will do well and I promise you that with God's will, we will make the trip to Qatar, hopefully with Tunisia and/or New Zealand qualifying there. Qatar is the first Arab, and the first middle-Eastern country to host the event and that special feel cannot be taken away from you, but the most thing you should be proud of at the moment is the bid that was presented. I thought it was genius, honest, and well thought. So go on, do us all proud and write your name on the books of success. And don't listen to the barking dogs about the hot weather, the small size, and all that garbage. It was never relevant and it will never be relevant.

@ genesis, well put...i sincerely hope that your realization is true...it does make complete & perfect sense, because any change being implemented that is questioned by the hardliners can be "blamed" on the World Cup,the hardliners will still be unhappy but at least they will be quietly unhappy!...

you can't dictate your opinion on others, no matter how much "the chip on their shoulders" bothers you

you think Qhris's post is harsh, why don't you check out what's written in all major international newspapers like NYT or the Telegraph highlighting every flaw in this country and ridiculing it

TPTB are not naive, they accepted the challenge and must be fully aware of all the consequences that would follow. Everyone wondered last night why would an already Rich small country would put itself in the spotlight?

It makes me realize now that it might be TPTB way to push change in this country, change people mindset, abolish all human right abuses and fulfill all the sought out obligations while boosting its economy

No words can change this now & there is no looking back.

If you're living in this country, Be part of it. if not for this country, for the people you support financially & for a better future of your offspring

@ flor1212,you mean the decision has been bought?!...as for different opinions,it's called freedom of speech,it's normal for human beings to have varying & opposing opinions on a subject & it's normal for each to state their point of view based on those opinions...God has after all given each of us a brain as opposed to a robot coming off a factory line, each of which is exactly the same as the next right?...you have your opinion, others have theirs, some agree with yours, some differ, asking the ones that differ to shut up is juvenile, for want of a better word...
