tips for umrah trips, please advise

Hi, i am planning to go for umrah by car with my family. Is there anyone can advise me the do's and the dont's during my trip an my stay in makkah? Does ayone know any hotel for a night stay between Saudi Border and Riyadh, since i heard that hotels are only available after Riyadh ( A Pakistani Hotel and another one at Halban). Is it recommended to stay there?
