Pope lashes out at Canada, He says the country is too tolerant .... Miss Canada rolls her eyes!

>>>>>> QUOTE: VATICAN CITY — Pope Benedict hit out Friday at Canada for allowing same sex marriage and abortion, saying they result from Catholic politicians ignoring the values of their religion.

“In the name of tolerance your country has had to endure the folly of the redefinition of spouse, and in the name of freedom of choice it is confronted with the daily destruction of unborn children, the Pope told a group of bishops from Ontario. <<<<<<

Oh the horror! Imagine an entire nation having to cope with all that tolerance and freedom!!!

What's your take on this? Do you think the Catholic Church's values are untolerant, and just plain ignorant? Or is Canada too liberal?

The Pope is just making the church statement heard based on their morals and values. Their Comments are under the parameters of tolerance within the church.

That other minority groups who support abortion, homosexuals, lesbianism and marriage among the same sex they are just making noise based in ridicule and counter defamation.

What I think is:

Someone's ideology and believes were hurt by the Popes comments.

They are just using the OLD excuse of no tolerance as an escape goat.

The writer of this tread just modified her comments to support her particular group or opinion. If you want credibility give us something to research to verify their authentic origins.

I don't want to get smacked (my mother is Christian).

But the person chooses the institution, the institution doesn't choose the person.

So whatever religion you choose you have two choices.

1) Follow the head

2) Follow your religion to the best of your ability (as long as it's for good).

He had no option. The Hitler Youth was the equivalent of National Service.

Following his fourteenth birthday in 1941, Ratzinger (Pope Benedict) was enrolled in the Hitler Youth — membership being legally required after December 1939.

I haven't actually read the rest of this thread, but saw your post and just wanted to clarify the Nazi reference.

His family hated Nazism.

You said it yourself Sage, Islam under Sharia is intolerant, however Islam itself, in it's true form, is very tolerant. Unfortunately many Muslims don't follow it's true form.

Islam is 1,000,0000,0000 times more intolerant that the Church. Islam under Sharia says that death must be served for gays, converts to Christianity, anyone who says anything against Islam, etc.

I'm just mentioning the tip of the iceberg. You have to be joking with your post. You need your head examined. It was good for a laugh though.

Hi all! I used to work for Saudi Aramco and have lived in the company community of Abqaiq and Udhailiyah. Aramco is so gracious to allow other religions to practice their faith as long as it's inside the compound and low key. Does Qatar Gas employees living in Al Khor community afforded similar privilege, say allowing celebration of catholic mass inside the compound? Is there a catholic church in Doha?

I will appreciate the information.

did you miss the whole pedophile multi-repeat offender that had kidnapped the two kids out west and called for a national Amber Alett? can't say I was discussing "safety" specifically just saying that Canada is way to liberal on everything and it does affect other aspects of life in Canada ie. safety.

"I think CAnada is just way to liberal with their crazy criminals, lock'em up and keep them there."

Canada un-safe?? Huh?? Please enlighten me with examples of these crazy criminals/psychos???

BTW: The discussion was about the Pope's recent comment was about the legalization of same-sex marriage and abortion, not about the overall safety of the nation.

I think the new Pope Benedict is very conservative. A bad choice indeed, the Catholic church needs to become more liberal and go back to its roots.

I think CAnada is just way to liberal with their crazy criminals, lock'em up and keep them there. One of the reasons I find Qatar a little more refreshing is it's safe. Most time offenders of the law are deported. It's harsh, but it keeps the state safe and I think it's worth it. So, Canada's liberalism should be re-checked when it comes to these psychos.

A quote from the Canadian "Globe & Mail" (national newspaper) sums up my opinion.

"Thank you Pope. You can now retreat to your medieval city state and ponder your next crusade."

Hi Miss,

Just a quick post, sorry I'm keeping on eye at my daughter as I write this.

I am a catholic. A bad one. But a catholic after all.

I am not surprised about the Pope's message to Canada. He had exactly the same message to my country for allowing same sex marriage.

I feel that yes, the Church is very intolerant, rather ignorant and at times, a little hypocrital institutiou.

Every so often I think that if Jesus was to come again today, with his doubtful circle of friends formed by diseased, homeless beggers and prostitutes, the church would happily crucify him all over again!

Having said that, I have had the pleasure to meet great catholic people who do not care at all about such prejudiced values and follow the message of Jesus just as it was.

So yes. Church values are untolerant. Funny. Jesus' message was all about tolerance.
