Going back to UK with dog and cat

Good afternoon
I am wondering if anyone travels back to the Uk via France with pets? I have been told that this option is alot cheaper and less hassle than travelling back direct to the UK. If anyone has any information regarding this option, Vet checks etc, I would be very pleased to hear from you.
Thanks
Glenn

hi Glenn
only makes sense if the dogs are tiny and you want to take them in the cabin (cant do that on uk flights). not even sure if qatar airways would allow you.
qatar airways should take the dogs direct to the uk. booking as excess baggage is around 200usd, much cheaper than cargo. I havent tried to take them back to the uk just brought them in on qatar airways.
not sure on specifics of import rules for the uk but I imagine the rabies jab and vaccinations should be what you need to get in, and probably a vet inspection in Doha right before the flight. all the EU should have similar rules so not really much easier via a secondary airport. reach out to DEFRA for specifics they are really helpful (surprisingly for a government department....)
qatar airways cant book animals to travel on the website and the call centre got very confused. I'd reccomend going to the ticket office at their HQ near old airport to sort it all out once you're ready, much easier to do it in person.
