Modern Qatar without Sponsorship

If Sponsorship law is scrapped in Qatar there will be big positive impact in the job market and Qatars economy and growth.
If that happens there will be an open employment market. Jobseekers will easily find the right employers and employers can hire the talents they need instantly from the local market without going for lengthy and expensive overseas recruitment process.
It will be a great advantage for large to Small business owners or contractors as they can hire people as on need basis even possible to get workers on daily or hourly basis to slim cut on expense. In other hand Employees too can work with multiple employers if they can efford. In result the employment market will be very very competetive which is most necessary for a growing Qatar.

It will be a win win situation for all parties. This should be the senerio of a modern Qatari job market. But from this only loosers I think should be some "Blood Sucking" sponsors who makes money on their labours blood not paying salaries for even more then six months. And when the helpless labours cry, in some cases those sponsors used to makes false allegation to put them in jail and deport without paying dues. Now its wisdom of decision makers what they want - a modern prosperous free Qatar or stoneaged slavery system

Dont expect anything in the near future.

They will do some eye-washing excercise in and around 2020..may be..to please the international communities.

This SLAVERY system will never stop.

It may take another shape ..in the extreme event.

Lets face it.

Already Qatar has proven the possiblity to become a model country in the region. The decision makers already have shown lots flexiblity. As of now expatriate can own a business in Qatar. And there are sectors in which no need any local sponsor other than bringing in capital. Foreign investments are more secured in Qatar then anytime before.

There are few things only holding back the drive wheel of prosperity. Hopefully decision makers will realize that and take appropriate actions to eliminate the problems. There are lots of things to happen in Qatar towards 2022. Fellow expatriates.. pls dont loose your spirit, be proud to be in Qatar and contribute in building it.

Baldrick spot on mate,

Protest, yeah we fooking protested on Saturday for not been able to get into the Stadium, what did these buggers do, they charged us down with battons and dogs and horses, even though our protest was legit.

Reclee, you are an arse!

"how about starting a protest like what we have in Egypt"

What an irresponsible comment!

Egyptians protesting against an Egyptian government is a valid protest. Foreigners protesting about the rules of a country they are visiting will merely result in jail followed by deportation. Great plan!

Arasool, regarding your last sentence, what is needed is upholding the current labour law to stop this from happening in the first place. Imprisoning a few salary defaulters would send a clear message to the others to pay up or do some jail time!

Every other person claims to be from the ruling family.. Not gonna mention the family name. So you can never win any case against any local in Qatar.

They are of ROYAL BLOODS (that's what they think), but we expats are of SLAVE BLOODS...maybe much even lower...

...and businesses can suffer from run away cases. Even with the sponsorship laws and exit permit systems there are large numbers of skip cases .. and think of those counts if the laws are removed! Good for credit buyers and bad for credit lenders

STRONGER.

Don't forget that the government in Qatar is here to do what is considered best for Qataris and their own stability is affected by the people's happiness and will be a consideration (especially in light of what is happening in Tunisia and Egypt). I doubt you will see any Arab countries making decisions that go against the wishes of their citizens any time soon.

Employee satisfaction is not a huge concern in most Qatari companies due to the current labor laws. If they abolish the sponsorship system, people will have other options available and companies will need to either better their treatment of employees or end up losing a ton of employees to competitors.

And let's face it, majority of these companies will not survive in the face of true competition.
