Job Portals
By Friend of Qatar •
Hi All,
I am a new member to this wonderful place. I am working for a job portal. I personally want to see what you people think about Job portals, which of the job portals are good according to you. How many times you got an offer saying employers visited your profile on some job portal. If i get nice ideas I'll definitely use them for everybody's benefit. I also want to increase my scope of services according to your ideas.
If anyone of you is employer then share me your experiences in using job portals. Suggest me what kind of service you expect.
I hope this will help me in providing good services and great opportunities to everyone.
Many thanks,
Yes I am now seeing the real time issues. First things first I want to let you know that Bayt or Monster are running this business successfully for more than 10 years, i see there are people who are getting benefited by this online services. Otherwise y would they just keep running without solving any purpose. Secondly i see that there is no much information given to job seekers on how to put up their resumes, for example..i see a very good profile but all the contact details including the name as empty! the person may be afraid of getting caught by his current employer but still he should create some email id for the sake of contact. Moreover i accept that this works best with the big companies very well compared to small companies. But times are changing the small companies were reluctant in using these services thinking it's a service only for Big -sized companies. I hope this view will change as there is going to be a big boom in IT industry in Qatar. Moreover this also depends how many people are using Internet in Qatar. As per ITU
in 2005 there are 165,000 people using internet which is great compared to the population of Qatar. I hope I'll strive hard to get all good openings on internet. Thankyou for responses.
Portals are slow to respond and often provide no or little feedback and when you get an automated response its very generic it doesn't give you any person-to- person discretion on how to follow up on your application
Am thinking, good positions are rarely advertised (on any medium)
I know of few people (2 to be specific) who got a job applying on job portals but they had exceptional degrees+work experience+talents. For those who focus on middle or starting level positions, it is not viable. Firstly, there is an email generated automatically and no feedback whatsoever on personal basis. Large time gaps in response from the site administrator also make job portals a big failure. The chances of a large company approaching job portals which charge hefty amounts for their not so well maintained database have become scarce.
