Beware of FRAUD COMPANIES
Dear Professional Future Comers to Qatar,
WELCOME - WITH LOVE AND RESPECT
I know a lot of come to Qatar to make good of whatever cause we hold and to re0start our lives back to normalcy as quickly as possible.
While Qatar is a great destination, you must be very careful while you choose your job opportunities or while doing business in Qatar. I wish to provide some basic guidelines for jobseekers in this section to keep in mind while zero0ing on their future employer.
1 - Please know that Qatar is a small state with Doha currently have 70-75% of all jobs here.
2 - The common form of company here is W.L.L, the reason is its easy to setup and with minimum costs for investors to procure the required trade licenses but please note it also saves their liability to the bare minimum and often not exceeding 100,000 riyals per invesor
3 - Only 10% of the companies are major companies or corporations like redco, al faisal, al mana, al futtaim, LotusQatar, etc but they have a lot of subsidiaries which will form another 10-15%
4 - As far as possible try to join or do business with a big/reputed brand name in Qatar as for the following reasons
a) They follow the laws of the land and abide by the labor laws
b) They may pay less initially but will definitely increase your stake or salary based on your performance
c) You will be greeted most often with openness and respect from various supreme nationalities here as such is their corporate culture
d) You will have peace of find as think of the reason whatever caused you to get here, you will realise that is well achieved
-------------- BE AWARE OF THE BELOW ---------------
Now as you clearly understand the most of the businesses here (70%) is done by smaller W.L.L firms.
In case if you come on a business Visa/Family Visa and are getting desperate to join - please do note of the following:
I - Mostly avoid Indian companies(if GM is malayalis), (pains me to write this as am one too) specially if they tell you to make your own offer
II - Never work even a single day in any company under your current Visa status,-- It is illegal for both the employer as well as the employee to be in a working relationship unless the below is done and is MANDATORY:
The employer processes your employment contract (3 Copies in Arabic and English for you, him and the labor dept) and places you under his company sponsored business visa while you are in probation from day one while he applies for your permanent Visa with the labor department.
They do not need your ORIGINAL PASSPORT TO PROCESS THE ABOVE and never hand over the same to anyone if they ask you for it.
III - If the above is done but you still find signs of uneasiness like you find malpractices in the workplace, pay not processed on time or not at all, or other illegal or inhuman activities, be sure to report to to the authorities and request them to keep your alias hidden.
+
You may also request for a release from them and get transferred back to your family visa later
And apply for better places that do business right.
ALL CITIZENS OF ALL COUNTRIES in the world would be please to know that Qatar's Cops are amongst the friendliest and the most loyal to the law of the land and in its uokeep they leave no stone unturned.
So never be scared or threatened to report something you know is false, they WILL help you.
After my recent 4 months ordeal in Qatar I felt the need to provide this insight from my experience to help you!
YOUR DECISION TO COME HERE - IF YOUR INTENTIONS ARE TRUE AND HONEST just follow the above guidelines and as they say the rest the all Merciful will take care of for you.

It's purely business strategy.
yes.. thanks highlander for the clarification.. what I am referring to is the manpower agency.
make this more clearer... Local Manpower Agency and Recruitment Agency are of 2 different mammals, right? And we are talking here of the Local Manpower Agency that mobilizes workers and having a cut from the salary offered by the employer.
So you are not in contradiction... LP & jazooon.. :o)
correct jazooon. Labor laws are applicable to the employee and the employer... in this case the employee and the agency. The employee had an employment contract with the agency, and the agency executes service contract with the company that hires your services. And the winner is... the agency! :o(
My employer doesn't keep 28% of my salary, jazoon!!
thanks highlander.
also for those hired thru agencies, I think that you are employed under the agency but you are just assigned to the company you are working. So if there is anything happens to you it's not the company who will shoulder possible expenses, it's your employer and that's the agency.
jazooon. I believe you in that... after all, every Nationality, every Tribe... has the good and the bad... and the ugly. too! :o)...
I just don't know why the OP mentioned specific on this considering he is one among them. Can you please give more insight OP...
@ Clown... you mean at QNB. Maybe they applied new regulations, but with what LP shared, maybe QNB will again consider applying new regulations.. again. That's how it goes... nothing lasts forever.
My current employer is a malayali thou he pays very low salary but he is giving monthly bonuses/incentives to those who are doing their job well and you can approach him. Maybe not all malayali's are bad
Not all non-Qatari person are hired thru agencies. I know one, but I'm not sure if they have new regulations about it.
dont go to Woqod car wash they will wash your car without warning you.
i washed my car few days ago and it rained after 1hour :(
such a lose
that's right! No use of being employed with Momenta anyway. This situation might give QNB a new turn for their hiring practice. Hope so... :o)
I'm gonna wait and see what QNB does, Highlander. But I advised the person NOT to work under Momenta.
so can you kindly educate me. Because I don't see the point... a rich State as Qatar, a prestigious and stable institution as QNB... still need to hire workforce from sourcing agency. Its just like buying products from a middleman when in fact you can buy directly from the source. So what business strategy is being practice in that system? Are they forecasting more expenses too?
@ LP... at the end of the day, QNB will still prevail to hire the person, since QNB is the ultimate employer so to speak. And to think that the person involve would much be happier to be hired directly by QNB rather than passing thru Momenta... considering she will be getting more of the salary package. What do you think LP.
I don't think so, Highlander, because what happens now is a confrontation between QNB and Momenta. While QNB is interested to hire the person, Momenta has closed the file of the person. So, obviously they do not work together. You should understand the situation, the person is interviewed by QNB, they'd like to hire her. But they can't. Momenta wants to hire the person (who already has an RP) for QNB and keep about 28% of the salary that QNB pays for the rest of the contract duration. These are hard facts, happening right now.
business strategy and forecasting, you will know why QNB and other companies source their manpower thru agencies.
would it be possible that the agency or agencies are subsidiaries of QNB? How about that... LP. :o)
sad LP. They do not practice what they preach. When in fact, they even spend so much to support Government's programs... but why not this one? This concern is vital in contribution to the betterment of the State. Anyway, thanks for the insight.
Highlander, that's what QNB says. A non-Qatari person must be hired through an agency. And this agency takes a permanent fee for the duration of the employment. And, yes, the government does nothing about it.
@ Qatarsnewhope...By the way, your post is very much appreciated. It will surely help those who are seeking for better future... and moreso, the New Ones! :o)
LP.... you mean all Non-Qatari employees of QNB are agency hired? I don't have the right to question their system.... But how can QNB, a Government entity at that, can coincide with the Government's effort to give fair and equal treatment to all workers of the State? The practice sounds inconsistent to the objective.
it's just like the labor manpower suppliers here which numbers many.
The law protects them in a way. Do you think they are operating illegally?
Highlander, QNB hires Non-Qataris ONLY through agencies.
flor, the person has already an RP. She is to be hired "locally". Now, continue protecting these criminal organizations.
can give insight on the query of flor... On how can we distinguish a Malayali from other tribes? They almost speak the same sound of language... the way I hear it.
And @LP... then why is this kind of practice being tolerated by this prestigious Companies? Don't they have their own HR Department to directly hire manpower they need? It sounds questionable for a prestigious and stable companies to hire thru 3rd party when in fact you can afford to hire directly and can even consider minimizing overhead expenses... and likewise have contented employees for a much better performance.
but who takes care of the RP? The accomodation? The medical etc etc? QNB or the agency?
And you find 2K a criminal. Do you know how much Ashgal or Baldiya pays to an engineer supplied to them by a third party? Not even half of that goes to the employee. Maybe a third of say 18K or 25K! And thats' what you called GREED!
I would like to add: don't work through a so-called agency. Momenta, one of the "agencies" for example offers you a job at QNB. QNB pays QR 7.000 for a receptionist, however, Momenta pays you only QR 5.000. So, just for the simple act of connecting you with QNB they take QR 2.000 every month for as long as you work for the bank. A one-time fee would be fair, but a permanent fee of 29% of your salary simply is criminal!
a MAlayali? Can an applicant ask for it directly?
some never know bout this specially for the new comers...
agrees @ wikileaks
thanks for sharing !
