World’s largest cruise ship, The World, docks in Doha
Have you ever travelled in a ship? How about inside a floating city? The World, a privately owned residential yacht that just docked at the Doha Port, is just that… a floating city. It’s arrival also marks the start of the 2016-17 cruise season.
So what is so great about The World? For starters, it is 196.3M long, has 280 crew numbers to service it and 165 residences. The ship is on its first visit to Qatar and will soon leave to Muscat.
Since its launch in 2002, The World has docked at more than 900 ports in more than 140 countries. The ship, which is on a never-ending world journey, is a popular attraction for travellers.
This year’s cruise season in Qatar is expected to be bigger than ever before. Almost 32 ships have already registered for arrival in Qatar until next April. This is a three-fold increase from the previous year.
The World’s passengers will be the first to enjoy Qatar’s new relaxed rules on entry into the country. They will be able to disembark almost as soon as they dock in Doha Port.
Residents of The World, welcome to Doha and enjoy your stay.
No worries britey, I have specially tailored made short perforated lungi's for the waitresses and rubber gloves with big gum boots...:)
Rizks: You day dreaming, dippy, delirious, deranged dough doctor.... This ship has private cabins and the Karak would have to be delivered in fine china cups by chinese waitresses in smart short dresses and white gloves :O(
I will check the possibility if I can open a small Karak stall inside The World...to serve the crew and residences with my mouth watering Karak chai, poppadum, paani poori, idly and sambar with Coconut Juice....:)
I have specially trained staff's from Nagaland....:)
Very interesting ...... .. 280 crew numbers to service it and 165 residences ............ ..... and we tagged it LARGEST ............ ! ! !
Been on cruise ships and loved it.. Lots to do.. Lovely food and great facilities..
The World is different - It comprises apartments and usually only carries between 150 to 200 "residents" or guests at a time.
Hope they enjoy seeing Souq Waqif and the Museum
