Turbo charged Nissan Patrol sets new 206.9 mph world record in Qatar
A new record was set recently in Qatar, with a supercharged Nissan Patrol 4×4 topping out at a blistering 206.9 mph (333.82 km/h) to become the fastest SUV across the half-mile in the world.
However, this is no regular Patrol.
Constructed by drag racing specialists AAP Performance, the Nissan’s regular six-cylinder engine was replaced with a twin-turbo engine with an estimated 2000 horsepower.
While the car is still essentially a Nissan Patrol at heart, it has been stripped back and modified in almost every way possible.
The front grill has been replaced with a carbon fibre cover and the headlights removed, while the interior has been stripped back to the bones, with just a racing seat and roll cage added.
The only thing that has remained relatively stock is the vehicle’s height.
All the customising worked, with the vehicle managing to not only break the record, but travel so fast that it blew its own side passenger door off.
Watch the Nissan Patrol take off like a rocket in the video below.
Brit we can gang up on and beat this patrol; you push me from behind in the pink Kia and I'll pull you from the front in the Camry; the combined pull and push should then overwhelm the big lonely patrol pulling itself :-/
We are proud of this record
Does a QL Reporter actually read QL ?
